Those of us with chronic Lyme disease have a double barrier to get over...regular medical doctors don't know how to test for or treat Lyme disease, and after usually spending years in the wilderness trying to find a resolution for that illness, we then discover that we have candida issues, leaky gut, food sensitivities, and finally heavy metal issues on top of everything else.
I was infected with Lyme disease more than a decade ago and have literally travelled the world in search of an effective treatment. Because there is no reliable test for Lyme disease, we chronic Lymies are shooting in the dark as to the cause of any given symptom...i.e. is it Lyme, candida or metals, or a combination of two or all three?
I have successfully completed many different treatments for Lyme, but failed a full protocol for candida, leaky gut and worms, then, after getting my almagams removed I failed at the Klinghardt mercury detox protocol my dentists followed, and then failed at Cutler's protocol, even though I was working directly with one of his people while doing it.
How did I fail? Detox symptoms were too extreme to continue. It seems that for me, jumping in with all the supplements and chelators was too much for my system, even though I was working with some of the top people in north america.
I had my amalgams changed out two years ago. Since then, all the old Lyme symptoms have been back, including extreme nausea, vertigo, fatigue, and brain fog that more closely resembles Alzheimer-like symptoms. However, this winter new symptoms arose...emotional issues and severe depression. For the first time in my life I have gone on an antidepressant, Effexor, which has helped, but not eliminated what is obviously a mercury related symtom.
In fact, this winter things got so bad that I was forced to move in with my daughter and son-in-law because I was too physically ill, and mentally confused to look after myself.
Two quick things relating to symptoms. Since being bitten by a tick eleven years ago I am the only person I know whose symptoms are triggered by temperatures that get close to freezing, and get worse in direct proportion to the colder the temperature goes below freezing.
Second, my body often feels like a toxic waste dump, despite liver cleanses, colonics, and eating well. When in this mode the phrase I use to describe it is that "to move is to die." Thus, I end up lying in bed most of the time because physical movement makes everything much worse.
I don't want this post to be a complete downer. I recently decided to get back on the detox horse and began with just fresh cilantro. I then began adding all the mineral and nutritional support one item at a time. Finally, a week ago, I added chlorella. After going through numerous healing crisis' during this process I have found a reasonable level of detox that my system seems to be able to handle, difficult but not extreme, if you know what I mean.
Also, I recently found this site and am amazed at how similar many other's experiences are to mine. I also just ordered Algin, something I had not heard of previously on any of the many health forums I belonged to, and look forward to trying it when it arrives.
I honestly didn't believe I would survive this last winter, but here I am, still alive, detoxing, and still hopeful that these clusters of symptoms can be resolved.
Thank you so much for your website and online support. If my head can get clear again I would like to update my own Lyme website at
www.LymeTreatment.com. It's been almost two years since I have been able to do anything with it, despite having written many articles on treating Lyme in the past.
Wouldn't it be nice to be able to write a concluding piece about how I finally became healthy, and over came Lyme, candida, and mercury toxification.
Thanks again Russ and Laura...I know how much work you put into supporting others and helping us along the path. Your effort is appreciated.
