My mind working overtime here. I'm getting my fillings replaced next month, but while reading for 4 months, I've been thinking about my son. Not sure where he fits in with mild, yet significant issues. I'm now thinking that my son may have mercury toxicity from my 7 fillings and perhaps vaccines. (born 1999) My 7 yo son when he was 4-6 went through daily crying over small things like he couldn't straighten out his blanket or if someone at school cleaned up his stuff during clean up. Sun in eyes, couldn't find bookbag fast enough, couldn't open lunch. Life's little frustrations were overly upsetting to him. He was sensitive to loud tv noise like at end of video. He even was afraid to try the tv knobs in case he hit a wrong one.
Afraid to try new things. He doesn't want to try to learn something new b/c he doesn't know how. He has outgrown the crying stuff and is able to control his emotions much much better and is excellent academically. He is behind in gross motor like catching, throwing, kicking and has no interest in trying. He is doing so much better with controlling emotions, but he is still a sensitive but seemingly happy little guy except when under pressure. I'm torn between having him tested for metals (won't go back to pediatrician "factory"...they even vaccinate when kids are sick now, I'm not going to have my 5 yo girl get her last shots for kindergarten) and what if he has high mercury and we chelate and he loses his excellent reading ability or the emotional control he has gained...He saw a therapist for 6 months at 5 1/2 to help him deal with his feelings when he started to get upset. His 1st grade teacher recently said he is a perfectionist and works with him to take deep breaths... He is really smart and with sense of humor, but the emotional stuff and socially does not really connect with friends other than pokemon battles and pretend stuff like that.
I'm very sports active and remember enjoying kickball at this age. He has no interest to even learn to dribble and pass, yet gets upset in gym when he drops the ball. Am I missing something obvious here? Can anyone relate? Anyone use a naturapath for their kids? Don't know who to see now for checkups. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif" alt="" />

My daughter was also born 1999. I am mercury toxic, have chronic fatigue, and am currently having my fillings removed. I had dental work done (unavoidably) while I was pregnant with her, and while the dentist took extra precautions, it is inevitable that she got a dose of vapour. She was the largest of my babies, cried alot, but is developmentally fine. Emotionally, she is all over the place. The slightest thing will reduce her to tears, she has lots of tantrums. Physically, she is a little chubby and clumsy, has cherubic 'baby' features, very dry skin, and low morning basal temperatures. All these are signs of hypothyroidism. The emotional lability is the most tiring, for me anyway. Anything, even being sprayed accidentally with water, can cause a meltdown. My theory is that the mercury from the dental work in vitro attacked her thyroid, and she is hypothyroid. I will be having her tested to check this out. Kids need the correct balance of T4 / T3 for their brain to grow. I look at all my children, and, knowing what I do now, wonder what their mercury load is, but as none of them show any signs of actual development delay, or disruptive behavior, I am not going to chelate them. They certainly won't be getting any mercury fillings, nor any further vaccinations, but I wouldn't be surprised if I have to treat my daughter for hypothyroidism. There is an epidemic of hypothyroid kids growing up - their thyroids have been affected by mercury fillings, fluoride in the water, soya products (I have taken my daughter off all soya products - these have some thyroid hormone blocking action). Have a look at this link for more info. http://www.stopthethyroidmadness.co...amp;sid=59dae93f5746ec729452a29ee62c2adcI wonder if this might shed some light on your son. Nicola

It's so true, and it frustrates me that so many parents don't have any idea what the most likely cause of the hypothyroid is. And when you tell them, 3/4 of them think your crazy and then run and ask their doctor.
Great to see people up on this information, very refreshing.
And you may want to stay up on and fight this Bird Flu vaccination thing. They're going to try to make it a felony to not get vaccinated. This is very scary because of what is in some of these vaccines.

Thanks. I'll have to do more research on the thyroid stuff. My son is small. He wears a size 5 and he is 7. I'm 5'3" and husband is 5'6". No weight problems.

Two more things. He has a nasty cough allergy/asthma-like only from Oct thru Jan. No OTC allergy stuff would help and only Singulair works. He also has had monthly migraine headaches that lead to vomiting for 1 1/2 years. Neurologist said he does not need MRI or meds. But just to drink fluids and eat regularly. I didn't want to go to allergist only to be prescribed more meds. Headaches have been year-round and only on Singulair for last two fall/winter seasons. Thanks for any input or pointing me in a direction to research.

Here are a couple ideas. I don't know if they'd work for your son's situation, but they might. Supplements for Allergies

Thanks! I'm definately going to try something along these lines. Can a capsule be sprinkled in applesauce or peanut butter?

Absolutely; that's a good idea.
If you don't mind, please let us know what you use and if it works for you.
Thanks.
