Hi All,
Its been over a month now since i had my fillings replaced and i was just wondering if anybody else here experienced such severe tooth sensitivity but funny enough not in the teeth where i had the amalgam fillings. It does'nt seem to be improving. Could this maybe be a sign that im allergic to the replacement material or could it just be the mercury. Im really worried. Ive spent a fortune having these things replaced i think i'll die if im allergic to them.
Thanks

Yes! My teeth have been extremely sensitive since having my fillings removed...not just one or two teeth, but quadrants. Hot and cold or chewing will trigger it, but sometimes it will begin aching all on its own. It seems like it's worse after a round of DMSA.......I dunno.
Sensodyne toothpaste has helped. I'm not thrilled about using it since I heard some of the ingredients are questionable, but I just couldn't take the pain.
I also wonder if the dentist left some amalgam behind and the chelation is trying to draw it out...just speculation.

Yep, going through the same pain as you are. I had one amalgam drilled and replaced with the material I am least resistant to. At first the tooth was so sensitive that I would not chew on the whole side. Now it got better but still I am like you sensitive to cold, hot, pain is in the upper teeth where no drilling was done, sometimes a toothache occurs and then all I can do is to wish for it to go away. I do not think that it has to do with the replacement material. My speculation is that it's from mercury being redistributed all over your mouth after the drilling. Mercury loves tissue, so it probable is holding strong onto the mouth tissues. I remember that after the drilling, the doctor had to take an x-ray to see if there were any mercury left, and during that time I could not control my mouth from twitching in a similar manner as an eye twitch. So lets cross our fingers and hope that once we chelate, the pain will go away.

My dentist told me that some people experience sensitivites in teeth that have amalgams replaced with other materials because other filling materials don't displace heat and cold as well as amalgams. They also don't displace pressure as well either.
In all cases that I'm aware of, this pain went away slowly over a couple weeks or in some cases, a couple months.
As far as pain in teeth that haven't been worked on... I have no idea. If anyone finds out for sure, please post it so we'll all know.
Thanks and best of luck with your detox.

My son went through sensitivities also, but they have gradually dissipated.

I had extreme sensitivity. I used a natural tooth paste-I believe it was by Jason-has thyme oil once a day. It took several months, but it all finally went away.
