-Finns who can't get enough of winter swarmed to the northern town of Kemi for the opening of a sprawling ice castle that features a theater, a playground, an art gallery, and a chapel. skifast

Thirty workers took three months to build this year's castle with the 13-foot walls stretching for 1,650 feet.

"We reckon this must be the world's most popular construction site," castle spokesman Simeoni Sainio said.

An Orthodox Church chapel, hewn from ice, already has been booked for four weddings and a christening. The theater has a capacity of 3,000 and will feature rock and pop concerts, musicals, modern dance, opera recitals, and the popular opera Amahl and the Night Visitors.

Construction and upkeep costs are estimated to be $1.1 million, yet the castle will melt sometime in mid-April.

The melting ice castle is a reminder that all the material things in this world will one day pass away. Let's lay up our treasure in heaven, not on earth (Matthew 6:19-24). bible
