Not sure if I already made a post on this subject some time last year, but my kidney (especially the right one) has suffered greatly from mercury. Any ideas on how to improve kidney function? I do drink detox tea which contains dandelloin (sp?) and sage.
I am also currently using acupuncture, but my kidney is in a pretty bad shape, and while the doc was working on it, my symptoms worsened so he had to stop the acupuncture. It's hard to get all that out of the system without symptoms worsening.
Once you get the mercury out, it's still a long road to recovery as now one must focus on getting the organ function back and "repairing the damage". That's the stage I'm in right now.
Sad to say that the hardest part to fix is my mental state. I am so full of fears that it's hard to get well because I worry so much. Maybe I'm going off the subject a bit, but here I am a year later and struggling, although I'm going upwards, it's a hard road to climb.
Best to you all. Nina

Nina, I would recommend a supplements that both detox and build the kidneys. Check out the attachments to this document: Products for Kidney Health

I'm in a similar boat Nina. My kidneys hurt, especially my left one. It is very hard to detox without worsening the symptoms, because the kidneys are one of the ways that mercury moves out of the body...and one of the organs it becomes most concentrated in.
Dandelion Tea won't help much, the active chemicals in it aren't very water soluble. You would have to make a decoction (boiling it for like 1/2 hour) or take an extract. I also think the root is good for your liver mainly, the fresh greens are best for your kidneys.
Traditional Chinese Medicine says that fear hurts your kidneys, but you will also feel fear if your kidneys are damaged.
A good thing to avoid to help your kidneys is caffeine. Also, do not drink too much water! If you have impaired kidney function and drink a lot of water because you think you should you will not feel good. I noticed if I drink too much water it would give me 'brain fog', which, when you think about it, feels very similar to thinking underwater....So I learned to only drink when thirsty and not because people say you should drink 8 glasses of water a day.

I know it's my kidney since I went to the ER last April with a horrible pain that I was told came from the kidney, except they never figured out what it was and sent me home. Since then I have had pressure on that side and sometimes I feel risidual pain (not strong, but just an awareness that something is going on). It checked out fine every time on the ultrasound, but I can feel there is something wrong.
On top of that my Chinese doc just told me my kidneys are damaged and is helping me to recover with acupuncture.
Russ, if I order these kidney products, do you think mercury symptoms will worsen?

Nina, I don't know if this will be of help or not, but, before getting my amalgams out, I used to have really strong kidney pains. I went to several drs. and even a specialist, who could find no problems. The specialist said that it was not kidneys. I finally asked my chiropractor and he said, "Do you think it might be yeast?" I thought he was crazy! But when the pains were only two days apart between severe sessions, I finally stopped eating sugar. The pains stopped and do not return unless I eat sugar. Or starch. Even starchy veggies bring the pain on. The last two times it flared up, it was after I ate yams(sweet potatoes) with NO sugar in the recipe. Sugar also causes stomach pain - as does glutin from wheat, rye, barley, etc. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/tongue.gif" alt="" />

Nina,
Yes, because they will cause a cleansing effect, I think it may make symptoms worse before they get better so you may want to make a judgement call as to whether you feel strong enough to go that route.
Come to think of it, I remember having occasional kidney pain before my amalgams were out and through experimentation, I found that certain "bad" foods caused the pain to occur. Finding and eliminating the bad food perhaps may be the key.

Have you tried asparagus?
I was experiencing kidney pain while I was taking NDF. I heard about the benefits of asparagus for the kidneys and one day the tavern that we go to for Friday lunch happened to be serving asparagus soup. I didn't feel any better after eating the soup but once I had urinated the pain had completely gone. It can give your urine a funny smell but I guess that means it's working <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />
I found that tinned asparagus worked as well as fresh.
God bless.

I've heard good things about asparagus and the urinary tract. It's funny how the simple, natural things in life can solve our health problems.
Thanks for the information.
