--The Life-Giving God-John 5:1-21; Acts 17:16-32
"For just as the Father raises the dead and gives them life, even so the Son gives life to whom he is pleased to give it."
--(John 5:21)-
Today we read that the Father and the Son give life to whomever they will. God has life to give because He
is life. He has it in infinite perfection. By His authority, He gives it to whomever He wills. The Father and the Son share this life-giving power, and so does the Third Person of the Trinity, the Holy Spirit ( John 6:63; 2 Corinthians 3:6).
We serve the Life-Giving God. He is pleased to impart life to us, real life; eternal life. He does this through Jesus Christ.
"I tell you the truth, whoever hears my word and believes him who sent me has eternal life and will not be condemned; he has crossed over from death to life." (John 5:24)Apart from God, we are all condemned--destined for God's judgment because of our sin. Yet He tells us more truth: There is hope. His words bring life; moreover, it is eternal life. When we believe the Gospel, we cross over--move--to a new place. A spiritual change of address happens. God moves us from condemnation and death, to pardon and life.
The Christian life is a pilgrimage. We are on the way to our final home--forever with the LORD. The best is yet to come! --Haven Today
