It sounds crazy, but apparently you can be allergic to vitamins and/or minerals. Getting rid of these allergies is a part of NAET therapy (which involves acupuncture/acupressure).

I think that could be the reason so many companies go to painstaking efforts to exclude common and even uncommon allergens from vitamin pills, because so many people find they react to them. However it may not be the extra contents that they're reacting to, but the vitamin itself.

I saw an alternative MD yesterday who did some kinesiology testing, and I turned up allergic to Vitamin C! I found this kind of hard to believe, and definitely inconvenient since I had gone to her primarily to get a prescription for a Vit. C IV so I could get my amalgams out.

I'm going to their NAET practitioner next week to get that worked on, so hopefully I can get it resolved soon. But if it ends up taking a lot of sessions I'm going to get even more suspicious and feel like my doctor and dentist are in cahoots since my new dentist referred me to her. And she (the doctor) is a definite proponent since she's listed as a contributor on the NAET inventor's book!

I'm willing to consider the possibility of vitamin/mineral allergies though, because I also mentioned getting migraines every time I take a magnesium supplement (even though it contains no allergens). And how I don't get any relief anymore from Epsom Salt (magnesium sulfate) baths. Sometimes they actually make me feel very weak and nauseous, whereas they used to make me feel very relaxed and happy.

I tested allergic to Magnesium too. She did about 5 tests, and the only one I didn't show an allergy to was distilled water.

It will be interesting to see if NAETs works, because it's supposed to *permanently* eliminate the allergy. And really, I feel I have no choice since my dentist referred me to her and I won't be able to get a Vit. C IV until their office is satisfied that my allergy symptoms are cleared!

There are only two offices that practice holistic dentistry in this city that I know of, and I couldn't even get an appt. for the other one til mid June.
