I sought His love in lore of books,
--In charts of science's skill;

They left me orphaned as before--
--His love eluded still;

Then in despair I breathed a prayer;
--The Lord of Love was standing there!

I sought His love in sun and stars,
--And where the wild seas roll,

And found it not. As mute I stood,
--Fear overwhelmed my soul;

But when I gave to one in need,
--I found the Lord of Love indeed. ~~

Lord Jesus, for this coming year;
just one request I bring;
I do not pray for happiness,
or any earthly thing.

I do not ask to understand
the way Thou guidest me,
But this I ask: Teach me to do

--Where Can We Find Him?

Where can we find the Holy One?

Where can we see His only Son?

The Wise men asked, and we're asking still,

Where can we find this Man of Good Will?

Is He far away in some distant place,

Ruling unseen from His throne of grace?

Is there nothing on earth that man can see

To give him proof of eternity?

It's true we have never looked on His face,

But His likeness shines forth from every place,

In everything both great and small

We see the Hand of God in all....

And every day, somewhere, someplace,

We see the likeness of His face...

For who can watch a new day's birth

Or touch the warm, life-giving earth,

Or feel the softness of the breeze

Or look at skies through lacy trees

And say they've never seen His face

Or looked upon His throne of grace...

And man's search for God will end and begin

When he opens his heart to let Christ in.~~

Silently the green leaves grow

In silence falls the soft, white snow.

Silently the flowers bloom

In silence sunshine fills a room

Silently bright stars appear

In silence velvet night draws near...

And silently God enters in

To free a troubled heart from sin.

For God works silently in lives

For nothing spiritual survives

Amid the din of a noisy street

Where raucous crowds with hurrying feet

And "blinded eyes" and "deafened ear"

Are never privileged to hear

The message God wants to impart

To every troubled, weary heart.

For only in a quiet place

Can man behold God 'face to face'!

-Life is a mixture of sunshine and rain,
Good things and bad things, pleasures and pain.

We can't have all sunshine, but it's certainly true
That there's never a cloud
the sun doesn't shine through....
