Hey guys, new to the forum, glad to be here! I'm in the process of getting my amalgams removed and am very eager to get this mercury crap out of my system.
I have had two mercury fillings replaced - fairly safely, I think. I have one more *visible* mercury filling to go. I am pretty sure I have some mercury fillings underneath crowns (I'm going to have my holistic dentist check each tooth for electrical charges - where the tooth is electrically charged, he says, mercury is present). And I have two upper wisdom teeth, each with mercury in them.
A few questions - any help would be greatly appreciated!
1) I want to start detoxing next week - right after the removal of another mercury filling. At that point I will still have at least two other teeth with mercury, probably more (guessing 4 or 5 total). Do I really need to wait until all the mercury is out before starting a detox program? What are the risks?
2) If in fact the answer is yes I DO need to wait, then what can I do in the meantime to control the mercury in my system? During that period I would definitely use your recommendations to alleviate mercury poisoning symptoms, Russ -thanks so much for sharing those!
3) My dentist uses constant suction, constant cold water (to "chunk" the mercury out, reducing vapor), and a dental dam - not perfect, but not unforgivably careless either. Is algin before & after the procedure, and activated charcoal under the tongue during it, my best defense? Should I consider chlorella before & after? Is it just ALA I should avoid until all mercury is removed?
Thanks folks!

Congratulations on your removal. Do I really need to wait until all the mercury is out before starting a detox program? What are the risks? Mercury detox generally involves introducing extra sulfur into your system. Mercury detox is almost always about sulfur. If you still have fillings in, it's believed that this sulfur can increase the mobilization of mercury from fillings because mercury binds to sulfur. It's generally believed that any sulfur-based detox should begin only after all amalgams have been removed or you risk increasing your mercury exposure. If in fact the answer is yes I DO need to wait, then what can I do in the meantime to control the mercury in my system? During that period I would definitely use your recommendations to alleviate mercury poisoning symptoms, Russ -thanks so much for sharing those! Algin, Vitamin C, and Vitamin E. Algin 4 caps 3 times per day between meals. Is algin before & after the procedure, and activated charcoal under the tongue during it, my best defense? Should I consider chlorella before & after? Is it just ALA I should avoid until all mercury is removed? Algin can - and should - be used with amalgams still in... and after they are removed. Chlorella should not be used before all amalgams are removed because it contains massive amounts of sulfur. That is why chlorella is used for mercury detox. ALA should be avoided before all amalgams are removed. After amalgams are removed, ALA should be started in small amounts (12 to 25mg) only, slowly working you way up as described in the mercury detox program in this forum. Too much ALA is the most common cause of severe mercury symptoms after mercury removal that I've found in the numerous people I've spoken with. If there are other mercury symptoms (there are about 200) that you experience, they can be dealt with on a one-by-one basis. Whether they be thyroid issues, depression, joint pain, headaches, constipation, etc., there are temporary solutions that can help until the mercury is out. Hope this helps.

Thank you Russ! Your explanation made complete sense, and I really appreciate you taking the time to help me out. I'm going to trust your expertise, and wait. I'll start on the Algin right away, and increase my C and E levels. If I could take advantage of your generosity for one last question ... what are your thoughts on the following two heavy metal detox products? Renew Life's Heavy Metal Cleanse: http://www.renewlife.com/heavy-metal-cleanse.htmlHMD / Heavy Metal Detox: http://www.detoxmetals.com/pages/HMD-Ingredients.htmI am suspicious of the later, as their marketing style is rather spam-y, but they do lay claim to that large double-blind experiment, which is somewhat convincing. Thoughts? Thanks! Hope you are feeling well on this first day of the new year! -Anna

The Renew Life looks like a decent heavy metal detox product. The only problem is that there are so many things in there you are likely getting from other sources.
It's a good assortment of minerals and B vitamins which help with detox. The vitamin C and Magnesium could be in a better form though (citrate or malate are better). The level of NAC may be a little high for some very toxic people, but may work well for others. I would be sure their chlorella and kelp are tested so they don't contain metals.
I generally prefer discrete supplements, not mega combinations. This allows you to have better control over the amounts of each of your specific ingredients. Nevertheless, I would say it generally looks good.
Some people have series reactions to chlorella so I would start with very small doses first.
The second link doesn't work.
Thanks for your well wishes. Unfortunately, they are spraying us hard so I'm surviving on my supplements with some pain.
Take care.

Education is mega important when chelating mercury and my advise is to read up and research the subject as much as possible before you start chelation. The wrong protocol will hurt you like getting hit by a bus. Many people chelate using the Cutler protocol. I would strongly advise you to look into that before you rush into any easy peasy chelation protocol. http://onibasu.com/wiki/Cutler_protocolRuss sells his book too. Best $35 bucks you will spend all year.
