Well, Russ knows a great deal more on this topic than I do. For my part, I am deeply opposed to forcing oneself - anybody - to follow a diet that goes against their desires (within reason, of course - if you are addicted to aspartame-laced Coca Cola, you better believe you have to do something about that).

But those foods you mentioned are healthful. If you were advised to stop just one or two foods, fine, you can probably do that, but having to stop an entire group of foods - have you seen the list posted here of high-sulphur foods? - that can rebound on you and your cravings will multiply badly.

That is just my own experience of the distant past with trying to get healthy by avoiding this and avoiding that. I try to eat in a simple, human way. If I were truly allergic, I'd find the underlying reasons for those allergies and work from there.

Eating is not just physical, there is all sorts of other aspects wrapped up in it: cultural, psychological, familial, and whatnot. It is my thinking that trying to stop too many things at once could cause emotional harm, eventually, as I said.

However, if you find it easy to avoid 40 different foods, take a crack at it, by all means. Or, you could try to simply reduce the quantity, and see if your symptoms improve.
