I had a question about the alginate. Over the years of coaching Andy's protocol with parents whose children are toxic, I often run into the idea that you should mop up metals in the gut with charcoal. However, this isn't necessary and it would be problematic because charcoal absorbs the vitamins and the dmsa/ala. Which messes up the steady blood levels of chelator you are aiming for. I don't know enough about alginate so I'm curious. Would alginate absorb the dmsa or ala since it absorbs things in the gut? Would it also absorb any of the vitamins you are taking? How is it selective to only metals?
We use ala every 3 hours per Cutler. I find it start wearing off about 3 hours and you begin to feel icky. We use Milk thistle three-four times a day.
Since its hard to know if your brain is entirely clear of mercury we avoid chlorella, heavy metal detox, and cilantro (for the purpose of chelation). Generally full chelation takes between 100-300 rounds, which is at a minimum 2 years but usually a lot longer. It's taken me almost 5 years to get 86 rounds! because sometimes illness, adrenal problems etc postpone me from chelating for periods of time. I've managed 128 rounds on one child and 120 on the other. The 128 round child still does not have a non toxic hair test. (still meets counting rules)
So if you do encounter any negative effects, especially a head ache or brain fog when using these things...then you still have some brain mercury and probably should avoid them and so more ALA chelation.
What we do find helpful for maintenance is to do a few rounds a year to clean up any exposure you may have encountered.
I am always interested to learn about new products and how others are treating their mercury. So I'm curious about the Algin.

Algin is a non-digestible polysaccharide that stays in the digestive system. It absorbs many kinds of harmful metals and some beneficial metals too (zinc, for example), so it should be taken away from meals and supplements. It has a high affinity for barium, mercury, strontium, and other heavy metals. I do not know its affect on DMSA or ALA, but since it does not enter the bloodstream, it does not likely affect them so long as they are not taken together. Hope this makes sense.
