I apologize for this late notice, but just found out about it myself. |
The 4 - 3 vote by the Pinellas County Commissioners last Tuesday, Oct 4, to discontinue adding fluoride to our drinking water has been covered by national media, including USA Today.
There has been tremendous criticism of these four Commissioners who voted to end fluoridation in Pinellas County.
Due to the pressure from the American Dental Assn and other vested interest groups, the Commission is going to relook at this decision tomorrow, Tues Oct 11.
If there is any way you can attend the meeting at 9:30 am in the courthouse at 315 Court Street in downtown Clearwater, and sign up to speak for 3 minutes, that would be much appreciated. Show up early to get registered to speak. I think the list is going to fill up fast, and we want your voice to be heard.
We know the pro-fluoride group is going to be heavily represented, so we want to balance them with correct science and citizens rights to not be medicated without their consent.
We also need to back up the four commissioners who had the courage, foresight, and integrity (and could see behind the questionable pro-fluoride arguments) to vote NOT to continue to fluoridate.
If you haven't already done so, TONITE please EMAIL the four commissioners who voted to end fluoride and give them a big THANK YOU for doing the right thing for their citizens.
They have been under a lot of criticism in the press, so please do let them know to hold fast and not be swayed by vested interests.

These folks are heroes in our book, and should be validated heavily for their courage to stand up for what is best for all of us.
One of the issues that is vital is that many citizens organizations throughout the country are getting together and filing lawsuits against cities for medicating their populace with an unapproved drug which has never been tested or approved by the EPA, the CDC, or the FDA. This is a very real danger here, and we as taxpayers don't want to be footing the bill to defend the county in a lawsuit.
