What a win for Pinellas County on Oct 4!!!!
We are making big time news all over the country!!!
USA Today is having a poll on water fluoridation.
Pls go and VOTE (scroll down on left of their page).
In case you haven't heard yet, the Pinellas County Commissioners voted to halt fluoridation to almost ¾ of a million residents in the county and most of the cities in Pinellas, effective this fall. See the article in the St Pete Times here.
After three hours of debate, four of the seven commissioners voted to discontinue putting this industrial toxic waste into our drinking water. Even though many people spoke in favor of continuing the fluoridation, these four commissioners had courage, foresight, and integrity, and could see behind the questionable pro-fluoride arguments, and they voted NOT to continue..
Please contact the four commissioners who voted to end fluoride and give them a big THANK YOU for doing the right thing for their citizens. Click on the names to get the contact info to either call, email, fax or send them a letter.
Norm Roche
John Morroni
Neil Brickfield
Nancy Bostock
They have been under a lot of criticism in the press, so please do let them know to hold fast and not be swayed by vested interests.
These folks are heroes in our book, and should be validated heavily for their courage to stand up for what is best for all of us.
Per David DeCamp at the St Pete Times "Roche spearheaded the effort, calling it a "social sort of program" that the county should avoid. A former utility worker who was elected to the commission last year, he has opposed fluoridation from the start."
"Morroni compared the practice to the disputed federal health care reform law mandating that people buy health insurance. Ultimately, he said, public support has shifted since he and other commissioners approved the practice." Morroni stated "I don't think the county government should be telling people they have to have fluoride in the water."
Unfortunately, this does not apply to St. Petersburg, Gulfport, Dunedin or Belleair. Those fights will have to be confronted separately. Presently the Dunedin City Commission is debating this issue, but Pinellas may have set a precedent which other cities may soon follow.
But this is just the beginning. We can all bask in the momentary sunshine of this Pinellas County vote, but today is the first day of the rest of our Fluoridation Journey.
For those that are energized by this victory, we should view it as the first domino tipping over and transfer its energy to the next domino, and the next domino, and the next . . .
One of the issues that may be affecting this vote is that many citizens organizations are getting together and filing lawsuits against cities for medicating their populace with an unapproved drug which has never been tested or approved by the EPA, the CDC, or the FDA.
The CDC came out with statistics showing almost 41% of 12-15 year old school children have dental fluorosis. It is medically known that when it shows up on your teeth, it's in your entire skeletal structure, the pineal gland, the hippocampus, the thyroid and impacts the kidney and aorta. These kids have esssentially been permanently disfigured. Our government agency, the EPA, knows that their 65 year flood of fluoridation has caused this tsunami of fluorosis.
The fact that the levels of dental fluorosis have jumped dramatically, that African Americans and Hispanics are even more disproportionately impacted, have created an irreversible "Tipping Point."
It is a rare opportunity that most people will never have in their lifetimes: to help create, walk beside and guide a "new paradigm," one that will dramatically improve the health and well-being not only of one's people, but all people.
Kurt Irmischer, a concerned citizen of Clearwater and President of our local group Citizens for Safe Water says "It is time to start having regular meetings again.. All suggestions as to when and where are welcome - sooner than later. Also, we need a new webmaster for the Citizens for Safe Water website. There is much to do!"
