I was taking high doses(50mg) iodine last year as my temperature was in the 96.5-97.5 range for a while. I stopped taking the iodine after my temperature got back to normal. Lately I had been having low temperatures again(96.5-97), so I started taking the iodine again. This time I am taking just 25 mg a day(a 32.5 mg tablet of KI) as my iodine supply is low, and since the disaster in Japan, many places have been sold out of iodine pills. I am using the Source Naturals 32.5 mg KI tablets, as those are the least expensive I could find. It amazes me how expensive Iodoral is. I am also taking 200 mcg a day of selenium. I am thinking about whether it makes sense to take more selenium, however there are many warnings about not taking too much selenium, and that overall selenium intake(from supplements and food) should be under 400 mcg a day. Selenium is needed to covert T4 to the more active T3. Mercury binds with selenium in the body and makes it unavailable. http://www.iodine4health.com/
