An Alternative MD Searches for a Biological Dentist . . .
Sunday, January 30, 2011
A holistic MD friend of ours who is on the Gordon Research blog http://gordonresearch.com/ sent us this recent post:
"Q: Would someone be so kind and help us find a Biological Dentist in the Florida area? I have found several so called mercury free dentists, but they still place root canals, nickel bridges etc. A true Biological Dentist would be a Gem of a find! ... Any suggestions?? Sincerely, Dr. MJI."
This blog goes out to 1500 doctors around the country.
Of the 13 responses, several were referrals to lists of holistic dentists. Dr. Behm at Natural Dentistry received 3 of the recommendations, the most of any one dentist.
Here are the 3 recommendations:
A: By far the best biological dentist I have found is Dr. Ray Behm in Clearwater Florida, 727 446-6747. I highly recommend you contact him, even if you have already found someone else.
Best regards,

Bay Area Endodontics professionals use:
- a microscope and fiberoptic light to see into the canal
- MTAD cleanser (non-bleach antibiotic cleaner that cleanses the miles of microscopic tubules) (www.BioPureMTAD.com)
- endodontic irrigator
- endodontic vacuum to pull debris and bacteria out, rather than stuffing it down into the canal
- pellets of ozone instead of eugenol (a toxic substance)
- a special root canal sealer,
AH Plus, after the gutta percha step. This is a resin paste used for permanent sealing.

. . . I experienced two years of uncomfortable facial cysts/ acne before Dr. Behm was able to determine the cause . . .
Thank You Dr. Behm
Based on my experience, I learned that not all health professionals (including dentists) are the same. I live in Sarasota and travel 1½ hours each way to visit Dr. Behm because I feel it is vital to have my teeth treated by a professional who is knowledgeable about teeth and how they effect the body. I highly recommend anyone experiencing health or dental issues to visit Dr. Behm. It could help save your teeth and your health.
For most people, until our teeth cause problems we tend to take them for granted. This is something that I experienced first hand. I also discovered there is a BIG difference in the dentist who treats your teeth. About two years ago I found myself with health issues and a variety of doctors could not determine the source of the problem.
Fortunately, my story has a happy ending. Unfortunately, I experienced two years of uncomfortable facial cysts/acne before Dr. Behm was able to determine the cause. Who knew that my teeth could be responsible for infection that would affect my health?
Dr. Behm's website http://BehmNaturalDentistry.com/ is an excellent source of information regarding teeth and health issues. His information on mercury fillings, proper amalgam removal and toxic issues is a must read for anyone experiencing health issues.
To give you a brief history of my health issues, by the time I was 15 (between 1966 -1977) I had "silver" mercury fillings in all of my back teeth. Like most people who had cavities in their youth, by the time I turned 40 these same mercury fillings started to wear down and cause problems.
I went to my dentist at the time to have two of my back teeth treated. His recommendation was to cap both teeth since the fillings had left them weak and in his opinion, replacing the fillings was not an option.
This was my first major dental experience as an adult and I have to admit I was uneducated about the different dental treatments and did not question his plan on how he was going to treat my teeth. No precautions were used when removing the mercury fillings and I think I inhaled and swallowed particles in the removal process. Right after the procedure, I experienced intense pain and the tooth abscessed.
When I went to visit the dentist, he recommended a root canal. This was my first experience with a root canal and since I was in intense pain, I did not question his recommendation. A root canal was scheduled for the next day, which left me no time to research my options. Little did I know at the time that both dental procedures opened Pandora's box with regard to my health.
It took a while for my health to rebound. What I learned is that the right health professional can make all the difference.. I now know the importance of the right dentist. Dr. Behm is unique in his knowledge of health issues and the correlation with our teeth. He has extensive knowledge of the meridian chart and tooth body relationship. His office and website has extensive information regarding your teeth, diet and your health.
When it comes to my teeth and my health, I trust Dr. Behm and his terrific staff.
Very grateful patient,
J. Lebar

| | 2009 - Toxic root canal before ozone treatment. The miles of tubules are full of anaerobic bacteria. |
| | 2010 - Same tooth after ozone treatment, with toxicity and infection arrested. |
Most would say that these two x-rays look pretty identical, many dentists included. This is to point out that a dentist cannot judge the severity of toxicity of a root canalled tooth from an x-ray alone.
This is a case in point . . . dentistry is the only science that proposes it is OK to keep a dead organ in their body.
We feel that an informed choice regarding such entities allows for the responsibility to be borne by both patient and practitioner, as well.

Another example...
M. B. is our patient from Melbourne, Florida. Here are some x-rays to give another before and after example.
This patient was determined to keep his tooth and I wanted to help him the best way I could, which was working with the endodontist by using ozone to heal the tooth.
| | Before Treatment |
This image shows the tooth prior to root canal treatment. Notice the darkness around the root of the tooth, which is infection.

This image shows the ozonated root canal treatment has been completed and the dark area (infection) at the base of the root has healed.

Root Canal with Ozone Therapy - Sequence of Events
Getting ozone therapy prior to having a root canal done can help kill any bacteria/fungus/virus that are in the microscopic tubules of this dead tooth.
The steps we recommend are:
1. Endodontist
The endodontist (root canal specialist) will do the first step. The canals of the tooth will be cleaned and shaped, then a temporary filling will be put in the tooth.
2. Dr. Behm
The next two steps of ozonating the tooth are done in our office.
The first appointment can be on the same day or a week or so after the endodontist. We will remove the temporary filling, ozonate and then put another temporary filling in. No anesthesia is needed for ozonation.
3. Dr. Behm
Step 2 will be repeated about 10+ days later.
4. Endodontist
Then go to the endodontist, who will finish the root canal.
5. Dr. Behm
The final step is for us to put a metal-free core in the tooth for extra strength, and crown it. This step will take two visits, then you're done.
