I would like to know what types of effects are noted in children exposed to maternal mercury in utero. I know of the serious physical birth defects, but what of the milder less obvious effects? Anyone have any information on this?

I haven't read up on this, but as I was exposed to mercury in the womb, I'd say anxiety could be one subtle effect. I was always a very nervous child and after I got the fillings I got the OCD. So, I think it's possible that the mercury I got as a baby made me nervous, and then the mercury I got in the fillings gave me an anxiety disorder.

I have looked for info on that as well and really haven't found anything. My three girls all seem to have had " nervous habits" from the time that they were little. One twisted her hair (and mine) and now is 15 and still can be found twisting the fur on a stuffed animal, another does things with her hair (its long and she has this series of things she does over and over with it) and the other has things like OCD stuff going on. They all have adrenal overload symptoms, stress out very easily, and become very irritable and moody when they stop taking their magnesium. Most of their symptoms are the same as listed under a mg deificiency and also estrogen dominance.
I've just started one of them on heavy metal detox-NSP to see if I can see a difference in her. I'm not sure how long it will take to see results. If I have good results, I will "make" the other two take it as well.
I'll let you know how it goes.

You might want to consider adding extra Algin to the Heavy Metal Detox...even though there's some Algin already in it. (I always recommend Algin with ANY chelator to make sure that mercury doesn't get reabsorbed.)
Try to make sure the child drinks plenty of water (which is often difficult with kids). This will help enhance bowel elimination. If you start seeing a decline in the child's behavior, mood, energy levels, etc., then definitely add extra Algin.

Thanks, Laura. Is there any idea how long they will need to detox? She has agreed to take it, but the other two hate taking pills and it is all I can do to get them to take 1 capsule of magnesium each day.
