Hi Jessaka,

I'm sorry to hear what you've had to go through and still going through! frown

No, cilantro is not safe to take! Even if you've had all amalgams removed, it should never be used until blood levels of mercury have reduced. Even then, unless there is a safe protocol in place for cilantro, it will still be a risk.

ALA is not safe either until much later (after amalgam removal). Both cilantro and ALA are able to chelate (detox) brain mercury, and therefore should never be used whilst amalgams are still present and/or blood levels of mercury are still high in the body - as they may take more mercury into the brain as they travel through a body that is still loaded up with mercury. It takes around 3 months or so AFTER complete amalgam removal before blood levels will be reduced enough to start taking a brain chelating agent. And I would opt for ALA at that point because there is a protocol in place (cutler's) that increases it's effectiveness and safety in removing mercury.

Garlic maybe ok. Some mercury toxic people may react negatively to garlic however due to its high sulfur content. Sulfur can mobilise mercury. But this may also depend on how much sulfur your body needs and mercury can deplete sulfur. So it varies from person to person how they respond to sulfur foods/supplements.

Probably the best thing to concentrate on at this point is your diet (following a candida/gluten free diet can be very helpful to mercury toxic people or in fact anybody who is toxic or unwell for any reason). Basically eliminating sugar/wheat/gluten/yeast from the diet and maybe even reducing all high carbohydrate foods if the problem is bad enough.

Supplement support is also wise - Antioxidant support - vitamin C powder (with bioflavanoids), vitamin E, selenium, milk thistle maybe helpful, magnesium, zinc, B complex, etc. (take vitamin C and B complex up to 3-4 times daily, as they are used up quickly by the mercury toxic body, so you can split the doses if you need to). Essential fatty acids (mercury free fish oil), getting enough protein in the diet too (natural meats/eggs), natural fats like butter, extra virgin olive oil, virgin coconut oil etc.

Even getting enough salt in the diet is also necessary and making sure you're not iodine deficient (mercury depletes all these things above and iodine too).

Doing parasite/liver/bowel/kidney cleanses may also help.

These things can be done now. Chelation needs to be done later after all the work is done. Some biologic dentists now work with their patients to make sure their diet is right, supplements are in place etc, before they will even remove their amalgams. This is to prepare the body as much as possible for the removal (which exposes the body to an increased amount of mercury during removal). So getting as healthy as possible before that is necessary.
