Hello Lynn!

Let's have a little
Bible study....regarding FOOD.
Now...What would you say, or how would you refer a Bible student to the 'meaning of a few verses'
? 1) What is meant in: ACTS 10:9-15 ? (
paraphrased) Peter went up on the housetop to pray...he became
very hungry, he fell into a trance. He saw heaven opened, a vessel descended unto him, (a great sheet knit at four corners), wherein were all manner of fourfooted beasts of the earth (deer, swine, horses, cows, elephants , wild beasts, creeping things (snakes), and birds of the sky (eagles, sparrows, crow, bats), etc, etc.
A voice came to Peter that said,
"Rise, Peter, kill, and eat."
Now Peter, being a Jew, was under the Law of Moses. What foods could he
NOT eat and what
was permitted? AND
WHERE did that voice come from??? So Peter said, "Not so, Lord; for I have never eaten any thing that is common or unclean" The voice spake again,
"What God hath cleansed, that call not thou common." This happened 3 TIMES! What is the Lord teaching us here
? Where do we find the answer
?---
Next, in light of the above story, what does
Jesus' comment to the Pharisees mean? "Not that which goeth into the mouth defileth a man; but that which cometh out of the mouth, this defileth a man."What is Jesus telling us in this verse?
Does it apply to 'eating clean or unclean foods?
---
One more to ponder....

Romans 14 Chapter 1 and onward, Paul is telling people 'the duty of charitableness...'
What does one (person), do if he goes to eat with a friend that does
NOT believe it's alright to eat pork chops, fried oysters, shrimp, or catfish??? Yet this person is hungry for these foods?? What does scripture tell us? Where is this found in the Bible?
----
Oh, and just for the record, I am from Louisians, home of the Cajuns. You have to eat pork sausage, pork chops, oysters, fried catfish, and cornbread to live amongst those folks.
What are your personal thoughts on that, Lynn? Thank you and have a good evening.
