Hi Seeker,

You're welcome. Sorry I've not replied sooner to the earlier post you made.

You take the DMSA everday according to Cutler's protocol - and every 3-4 hours around the clock (which means taking doses during the night also). Do this for approx 3 days, (or if you wish, up to a week), then take the same amount of time off (or longer if you require) as a break (e.g. 3 days on, 3 days off, one week on, one week off, whatever suits you). This cycle is repeated for approx 3 months and then you can add in ALA (alpha lipoic acid), which can chelate organs/brain. DMSA is the beginning chelator to clear the blood stream and I think tissue, of mercury. Which is advisable before using a brain chelator.

You can take mineral supplements on the DMSA day. In fact, he advises people take supplements continually (antioxidants/essential fatty acids included), to help with the stress of merury toxicity and chelation.

He does not recommend chlorella. not sure about calcium/iron though. You can take magnesium/calcium if you wish (best in equal ratios), B complex is recommended (balanced if you can and split up so you can take it approx 3-4 times daily), vitamin C the same (split up to 3-4 times daily), vitamin E (once or twice a day), magnesium (3-4 times daily), milk thistle (3-4 times daily), zinc (once or twice a day). This is not a rigid supplement protocol, just some basics that can help.

I found selenium and iodine to be important also in mercury toxicity, but start slow as it can stir symptoms because it's one element that mercury competes with for binding sites (though mercury competes with other minerals also). But these two seem particularly depleted with mercury poisoning. They can aid the thyroid gland, which mercury is known to affect.

As for DMSA dosage amount. The dose will depend on your level of toxicity and reactions to detox. Start low - about 12.5 mg if you can. 25 mg maybe ok, but some people are so toxic, they cannot handle anymore than 12.5 mg to start. Some cannot even do that and start as low as 6 mg or so.

This can be annoying because the lowest i've seen DMSA is about 25 mg capsules, but most are higher doses. So you need to split them up.

Hal Huggins by the way recommends mercury toxic people get enough animal protein in their diet. This apparently helps with detoxification of mercury and the raw materials of protein and animal fats like butter, help with healing. Getting off sugar/wheat/gluten/yeast is also often helpful, because alot of mercury toxic people suffer with candida and often wheat/gluten allergy. Just those dietry eliminations alone can make the world of difference to some people. Doing this can also help the body begin to absorb other nurtients much better, as well as detox better and build immunity. As long as good foods are consumed as well.
