I've had some experience with chlorella and NDF. My opinion is mixed because the symptoms I had from them have been mixed. Sometimes I felt better, but often they produced far too many symptoms and more than I could usually cope with. I guess it is different for everybody.

I do not have proper functioning detox pathways (liver phase I and II) and this produces big problems with toxicity, even mild exposures. So I am what is known as "a pathological detoxer". This may have much to do with my extreme symptoms when trying to eliminate mercury. So any product that served to stir things up, rather than escort things out, was often intolerable for me.

I found the same with most products that detoxed mercury. I finally found the Andrew Hall Cutler protocol and was able to, for the first time, tolerate a method of detoxing mercury. His worked by using a chelating agent (DMSA and later DMSA with ALA) on a frequent dose schedule. I.e. every 3-4 hours around the clock. This was done to keep the blood levels of the chelator even in the blood stream (after 3-4 hours, the levels decline, so this is why it's advised to keep dosing every 3-4 hours for a few days). This helps keep the movement of mercury more even/level, so that more of it is removed, rather than shifted around by dramatic ups and downs of dosing and levels of chelator in the blood stream.

This was really the better way for me to start detoxing mercury. I'm just one of those people that do not have proper functioning liver phases and this proves to be serious when it comes to toxicity and detoxing. Though chlorella/NDF are healthy products and may really help somebody feel better and indeed help some detox their toxins/metals, they may not be the way for everybody, because when you deal with mercury, you're dealing with something that is one of the most toxic elements known to human beings and merely shifting it around or pulling it out of tissues and it's then mobilised in the blood stream, may not be readily removed by an already overburdened body and instead may settle in other areas (brain being one). However in saying that, a biologic dentist in my country whom is one of the best, uses NDF on his patients with what he feels has been "successful". So again, people like me maybe the exception rather than the rule, but it is still risky business!

As with anything, start slow, start small and test reactions and see how you go. I personally would recommend the Cutler protocol, but I also did much experimenting before I finally stuck mainly with his. I believe there are many things that a person can do that come together to aid in the overall detox of the body. Diet, moderate exercise, heat induced detox (hot baths with epsom salts/sea salt/baking soda) / saunas, cleanses of various kinds like parasite/bowel/kidney/liver etc, supplementation like antioxidants/essential fatty acids/iodine, etc and products to help the body eliminate the toxins/metals.
