The first thing you should ask is whether his crowns and other materials come from China. If you are bold , you can ask to see the package. Dental products from China contain lead and many other poisons and a large percentage of dentists are using Chinese labs to cut costs.
You can have your teeth xrayed after amalgam removal and before putting in gold to make sure all the amalgam is removed.
