Hi desperatewoman,

I wasn't sure if you were talking to me or JK? I personally did not say to stop chelation or to not increase supplements. I simply suggested lowering the dose of the chelation to see if it makes things a bit easier.

You can certainly increase particular supplements (and take them more often), as this can help the body's need for more of these vitamins/minerals as it uses them up during stress/chelation. IV vitamins/minerals maybe helpful too, if you can afford that.

If the DMSA seems to be the main cause of the muscle weakness and you know this from trying it alone (without ALA), then yes, you may find using ALA alone at small doses may suit you better. You can always try these things and see how they go (seperately and together). Often people use DMSA with ALA because they find DMSA continues to be helpful to them as far as side effects are concerned. However, if you do not find DMSA helpful, but rather causes problems, then you can just use ALA alone.

As long as you have had no recent mercury exposure or amalgam removal (within the last 3 months), then you can use ALA. But it should not be used too early on when blood levels of mercury maybe still high - which is the first 3 months after amalgam removal and/or other recent exposure to mercury.

No, fasting is not recommended for mercury poisoning. It is actually advised against. On the contrary, it is advised that a person, particularly in this condition, requires more protein (particularly in eggs and meat) and enough good fats from butter, lard, extra virgin olive oil, fish oil (mercury free) and organic virgin coconut oil.

Other oils like canola are in fact quite toxic to the body, contrary to what we are often told.

I suggest reading Dr Weston Price's studies/findings and get a good idea of what foods and fats are healthy and healing.
