I imagine getting it through your doctor by prescription would be cheaper. Though you're still paying her when you see her to get one, so hopefully her charges are not too expensive for you. If you do get a prescription for DMSA, see if you can just get repeat prescriptions by phoning the doctor and getting another one sent out to you. Rather than making an appointment just to get another one.
I am on a sickness benefit, and have a card which makes visiting doctors and prescriptions much cheaper than they would be if I were working. So this also helps alot. Though I don't get DMSA on prescription, because my doctor sells it herself, or I can get it straight from the lab. Highly expensive stuff! At least it is here.
As for DMSA dosage amounts. 50 mg capsules was the lowest I could get from the lab, or they would charge me alot extra to make lower doses of it. So I got the 50 mg and simply split the doses up for myself. You maybe able to get lower doses on prescription. I'd go for about 25 mg if you can (or lower - 12.5 mg), but 50 mg is the lowest I can get it. If you can get 12.5 mg dosages, you won't need to split them up. If the lowest you can get is about 25 mg, or 50 mg, then you'll still need to split them up, because for many 25 mg is still too high a dose for them at the early stages of chelation.
