Quote
MENDELIAN inheritance, the central tenet of genetics, is under attack from a few scrawny weeds that haven't read the textbooks. The weeds are somehow inheriting DNA sequences from their grandparents that neither of their parents possessed - which is supposed to be impossible.

...

...Cress with two mutant copies of one gene seem to be able to correct the DNA they pass on, ensuring that at least a few of their offspring revert to normal. Robert Pruitt, whose team at Purdue University in West Lafayette, Indiana, made this extraordinary discovery, thinks that the mutant genes are being repaired using RNA templates inherited from earlier generations.

...

...Eventually, Pruitt was left with one, unbelievable explanation: the normal offspring were somehow acquiring genetic information from ancestors other than their parents.

To my knowledge, nothing Mendel said prohibits the repair of mutations. Such a mechanism is shocking and challenging to Darwinism however, since it hampers the mutation goddess' ability to perform.

They're man-made mutants, refusing to comply with the tinkering. Funny in more ways than one.

For example, if they truly believed their doctrines on naturalism, they wouldn't be able to even acknowledge the problem. Naturalism dictates that no "supernatural" phenomena be acknowledged. 'Supernatural' is defined as that which cannot be explained naturally. This cannot be explained naturally, so they have no business even seeing it. For all anyone knows, God dispatched an angel to make repairs, right?

Of course naturalism is not actually a belief system - it's an excuse-making system. It's a false-accusation-making system. When they realize they don't want to see something, or they want to call someone "unscientific" they employ it.

Darwin himself, at the front of what became their most sacred text inserted a most insightful quote.

I don't think he agreed for an instant myself, but was either trying to lure the readership into trusting him or appease his wife. If you read it carefully, you'll see. It is so utterly incompatible with his writings that I have twice had evolutionists accuse me of publishing a made-up story!

I didn't. Why should I?

Anyhow, this "supernatural" phenomenon may not be restricted to just one weedy plant; the researchers think other lifeforms might have it too, although they haven't yet discovered any. I'd google, but they haven't dubbed the mystery, so where does one begin?
