O.K. guys, here's one for you. I hope I get an answer quickly because I need to know what to do. My son is entering college and he needs our dr. to fill in a form re: all his vaccinations. Despite the fact that he has not been there for a few years, His vaccinations are all up to date. However, he will "need" a tetanus in Sept. When he goes in next Tues. I can just see them saying "Oh, you're just about due for your tetanus shot - I'll give it to you now." After what I have read recently about vaccinations, I really am not sure I want him to have them, esp. as he is showing some signs of autoimmunity. I am in the midst of trying to change over to an M.D. who is also into alternative medicine, but I haven't found one yet. My questions are: 1. What do you call an M.D. who specializes in alternative medicine? 2. Is it legal to have an N.D. (Dr. of Naturopathy) as a primary care physician? 3. Is there any way to find out what is in a particular vaccine? ie. is there a way to get a vaccine that has no mercury, aluminum or any other junk, or aborted fetal cells ? 4. Is there any way to find out ie: on a national register, where I can find an M.D. who is into alternative medicine who would understand my dilemma?

I think the tetanus shot does include thimerosal, at least in general. You may want to do a search online to see if there are doctors providing one without it.
The last tetanus I had was at 15. I was due to have one a couple of years ago, but after reading on the internet that some people had problems after the shot I decided to cancel my appointment. I thought the problems were from the tetanus, but now I think it could have been the mercury? i.e. some of the problems were neurological.
I know that doesn't really help you any.

I'm sorry, Dallas, I think my information was wrong, I don't know. Firstly, I am in the UK so I don'tknow the situation in the USA.Secondly, I've been looking it up and I can't find any information on whether thimerosal is still used in tetanus shots here. It used to be used, but I don't know if it still is. Sorry about that!

This may help, Dallas: http://www.altcorp.com/DentalInformation/hgfreevaccine.htmI read on another site than sometimes thimerosal is used in preparation and then the shots are "purified" of mercury, but that could mean there is a trace amount. You might want to find out if "thimerosal free" really does mean mercury free.

He Dallas, 1. What do you call an M.D. who specializes in alternative medicine? The practice is call Integrative medicine. Do a search for this on Google and you'll find many hits. 2. Is it legal to have an N.D. (Dr. of Naturopathy) as a primary care physician? That is usually determined by the policy of the organization you're dealing with. If I were in your position and I found a D of N that advises against vaccines, I'd go to the organization with a note from "your Doctor" saying you cannot have this shot because you may have a bad reaction to one of the ingredients. Legally, the word "may" means nothing so the Doctor should be immune from legal issues (although He'll have to check with his attorney to be sure because I'm not a lawer and I don't give legal advice) and the organization certainly doesn't want liability because they have bad policies so you should be OK. 3. Is there any way to find out what is in a particular vaccine? ie. is there a way to get a vaccine that has no mercury, aluminum or any other junk, or aborted fetal cells ? Ask the person administering the vaccine for the ingredient list and the manufacturer. No not just take their word that it does not have this or that ingredient because it is very common for doctors and nurses to give an answer they've been told to give and it not be correct. One of the videos we're about to sell has an award-winning news story that talks about this very thing. 4. Is there any way to find out ie: on a national register, where I can find an M.D. who is into alternative medicine who would I don't know of a national register, however, I would all Bastyr U in Washington State and ask them. You can also search Google for these terms and you'll be on your way. I hope this helps. It just takes a little research here and there. Here are some quotes you may be interested in from the book we have entitled: Vaccines: Risks, Benefits, Choices by Dr. Sherri Tenpenny “Tetanus toxoid, influenza vaccines, polio vaccine, rubella vaccines and others, have been related to phenomena ranging from auto-antibody production to full-blown illness (such as rheumatoid arthritis).” [REF: Shoenfeld Y. Vaccination and autoimmunity-‘vaccinosis’: a dangerous liaison? J. Autoimmun. 2000 Feb; 14(1): 1-10. PMID: 10648110]TETANUS: I have been informed of the risk of my child developing fatal neuromuscular disease related to tetanus. I understand that the incidence of tetanus is low, and there is an antitoxin, should we decline the immunization. I understand that contracting tetanus does not provide life-long immunity, and neither does the vaccine. I understand that to prevent more severe reactions from the vaccine, the tetanus component has been so significantly "diluted" that it is clinically ineffective.(18) I understand that the death rate for properly treated cases of tetanus may be as high as 20%.(19)Side effects of the tetanus vaccine alone include: high fever, pain, recurrent abscess formation, inner ear nerve damage, demyelinating neuropathy, anaphylactic shock and loss of consciousness.(20)Note that nearly twenty-five percent (24.8%) of those who contracted acute tetanus had at least one dose of the vaccine and more than twelve percent (12.4%) of the patients were fully vaccinated, with three or more doses of tetanus.DTaP Diphtheria and Tetanus Toxoids and Acellular Pertussis Vaccine Adsorbed Lederle Laboratories 1-800-934-5556 Ace-Immune produced using formaldehyde, thimerosal, aluminum hydroxide, aluminum phosphate, polysorbate 80, gelatinDPT Diphtheria and Tetanus Toxoids and Pertussis Vaccine Adsorbed SmithKline Beecham Pharmaceuticals 1-800-366-8900 ext. 5231 produced using aluminum phosphate, formaldehyde, ammonium sulfate, washed sheep red blood cells, glycerol, sodium chloride, thimerosal medium: porcine (pig) pancreatic hydrolysate of casein

Just to clarify the information Russ posted about Dr. Sherri Tenpenny's book... the Vaccines: Risks, Benefits, Choices - Parent Manual - by Dr. Sherri Tenpenny is really designed to go along with her informative video on the subject, Vaccines: Risks, Benefits, Choices Video. The Parent Manual is a compilation of information that Dr. Tenpenny wanted to provide to people in a hard-copy format, such as additional articles and studies, a list of ingredients in all the vaccines along with the manufacturer information, a copy of all PowerPoint "slides" used in the video presentation, etc. My favorite part of the Parent Manual is a very detailed "Informed Refusal" letter that can be given to any school official, doctor, etc., which explains the real problems with each vaccines and therefore, why you want to refuse the vaccine. The letter contains all the scientific references, which further adds to its credibility. The information Russ posted about the Tetanus vaccine was taken from this Informed Refusal letter. Hope this helps. I think every parent should have this information. In fact, doctors should have this information! According to feedback I've received from several people now, doctors are really in the dark about the "safety" of vaccines...they're just espousing what they've been taught in medical school or by the drug companies or CDC and they haven't looked into the available research for themselves. Thankfully, doctors like Sherri Tenpenny are making this information available.

If your son's vaccines are up to date, then I don't think he would have to have a tetanus booster. Either way, I wouldn't have him get it. I did a lot of research on the DTP booster a couple of years back when one of mine kids were "due" for it for high school. The boosters still contain thimerasol among many other horrible things. Everyone gave me much grief in trying to find out how to get around giving her the shot. I finally ended up with a religious exemption (after more grief from the health dept.)
My other daughter is now getting ready for college and I received a letter from the school that was worded in such a way that it sounded like she had to have the menengitis and something else shots. I checked the state requirements, and found that the law was that they had to inform her of the "dangers" of the disease and the availibility of the vaccine, but NOT that she HAD to have the vaccine. They are very tricky in their wording! It's hard work, but worth it to save them from additional toxins.
Good luck

You can file an exemption base upon your "religious spiritual" beleives that he is not have any vaccinations. Check the public health statutes for your state on the criteria needed to do this. In NY I only need type a letter and submit it to the school. Run an internet search on vaccination, and you will find many sites telling you how to avoid them. They cannot legally force anyone to have a vaccination, it would be assault.
