The amount of mercury dispersed in the air via coal-fired power plants dwarfs that dispersed by fluorescent light bulbs (although you certainly are correct, they do give off mercury).

I should clarify here: I do *not* know that CFLs emit mercurcy - I know they contain mercury, but I'm not sure if they actually emit mercury, unless broken.
