Ha -- "pharmaceutical" is a good term is descibe the disgusting smell I have noticed here in Berlin a few times during the last few months: sickly-sweet-suffocating-artifical-chlorine (?).

Most people get used to a stench like that rather quickly -- within minutes of leaving the house, they become smell-blind. But as I work from my home, and don't use stuff like perfume, I do notice it each time I open my window for a moment. I am pretty sure I never smelt that before in my entire life, and there is no industry near where I live. I have no idea what JP-8 fuel smells like, but that might be one of the suspects.
