Hi Patman,
You're welcome.
I am unsure how far away from amalgam removal you are? Because as Russ said, taking products like cilantro (and ALA) too early when blood levels are still high is not a good idea. Because the still high body levels of mercury can be taken INTO the brain as these chelating agents cross the blood brain barrier.
The blood levels should be reduced first (DMSA is a good one for that). So that there is less risk of further uptake to the brain.
Also, I found personally that if I took chelating agents any other way than the way Cutler prescribed, I very quickly shunted metals into various areas like the gut and had pretty serious reactions from it. In fact, at one stage, when I slipped up on Cutler's protocol and took the chelators too far apart, I wound up in much pain from redistributing those metals. This caused bowel upsets, worsened candida etc. I was unable to continue chelating because of it and had to deal with the now worsened candida condition. Once I got that back under control, I resumed the chelation at small doses and every 3-4 hours (and did not slip up) and was able to start improving again and reverse some of the redistribution impact.
This goes for ALA also. So though you maybe reacting the avenues they chelate metals through, it maybe that it's too early to use brain/organ chelators, and/or you may find the protocol itself is causing too much redistribution and unnecessary flare ups in those problems areas.
Saunas and exercise (in moderation) would be helpful. There is always a certain amount of redistribution, it's unavoidable, but I guess the key is to minimise it as much as possible to reduce the erratic movement of mercury into worse/more sensitive areas or even the brain itself. I found my treadmill walking to be a SURPRISING help towards detoxing.
If you ever do decide to try Cutler's protocol (whether it's with DMSA, ALA or both at the sametime), I'd suggest very small doses. If it's DMSA? It's every 4 hours (or more often if a person finds it cuts down further on symptoms). ALA is every 3 hours (one can extend that to every 4 hours during night time dosing if it helps with sleep, but return to every 3 during the day). If taking both at the sametime? Then they should be taken every 3 hours (as you would with ALA alone). Again, can extend to every 4 during nighttime dosing.
Again Patman, you may simply not tolerate any of this at this time. But it's an idea and a different style of trying such chelators to see if it's helpful at all.
