Yes, Sandra, I have lost a LOT of hair and it went gray at a young age. I have noticed it coming back with a much better diet, and I expect that, now since I have had my fillings removed, things may get better yet. I don't know if the gray will ever leave, since I am now getting to the age where most people go gray.

I started losing hair last Jan...I only had 3 amalgam fillings in my mouth...didn't find out about the mercury poisoning until last sept....so hair was falling out before removal of fillings...all of my fillings are out, and not much hair growth.....will it grow back, even though it fell out a year ago..........I am doing dmsa every 2 weeks...I am seeing a dr.who specilizes in heavy metal detox...so I am doing this under prof. supervision...my levels are still high at the moment...thanks...Sandra P

I too had the same problem. My hair was thinning so fast I could see a difference each week.

When my amalgams were removed, the thinning stopped, so that's good. I believe with some supplementation and time, it's possible to get some or all of it back.

thanks for the input,

It just adds to everything else....I'm only 35, so losing my hair is so depressing...I just want to add too, that I was trying to get pregnant for the last 4 years...and nothing happened...and I had regular cycles and was ovulating....my naturopath said it was the mercury that was causing my infertility...anyone else experinece this?????Thanks Sandra

As soon as you detox fully as I'm you'll be able to get pregnant again. It'd probably wise to wait until your recovered, as you don't want the mercury to pass over to your kid. And you're kid'll be lucky enough to have a mother who knows what and what's not good for him or her

I have lost a LOT of hair Sandra. My hair was thick and it is waist length. Yes, it is very depressing and that is just another symptom of this nightmare. In the beginning I attributed the loss to the birth of my son. But that was 18 months ago and I am still losing it. From what I have read in the forums there seems to be some hope that it stops after the removal and hopefully it will eventually start to grow back in time.

I agree with Demi - it would be in your best interest to find a mercury free dentist to work for. You need to stop the exposure and start to detox if you ever want to get better.

I wish you well, Teri

Hmm I've been looking at the website (http://hollandandbarrett.com/pages/product.asp?xs=93059E88B011472DAF92D6B629408FD1&PID=138&np=1&cpid=64), and it doesnt tell me. I'll get back to you. If you're in the UK it's the one holland and barett sell. I'm also trying another brand which I'll tell you about once I've tested it.

My hair story follows my OCD and PCOS story.

When my mother was pregnant with me she had a filling, and already had some, so I got exposure to mercury. I was born premature and "very nervous" according to the nurse who delivered me (but considering I had been stuck and they had to pull me out by my legs, that is not surprising, lol).

Anyway, for the first 2 years of my life I had hardly no hair. I was fat and had to be put on a diet, and I wouldn't sleep well for my parents, even though they were feeding me properly. My mother was really worried about my hair. I had a little bit, and that was it.

But my hair grew eventually and by the time I was 7 I had thick curly hair.

Then I started to get amalgam, braces and sealant, and by the time I was 12 not only did I have OCD but I had very thin hair. I didn't get a period until I was almost 15 and I was never regular my friends. My periods were heavy, painful, and I was getting other problems like migraines and pins and needles and I won't go on, lol.

But when I stopped with the braces and getting fillings, became vegetarian so ate no seafood, my OCD got better and my hair got thick again. Hairdressers once again commented on how thick my hair was. My periods were still not regular and I was getting thrush, but the most gap I had between periods was 3 months.

Then I got a root filling (huge mistake) at 22, and within 2 years I noticed that my hair was thinning. I was also getting some body hair. My periods also virtually stopped.

I went to see the doctor about this (again and again and again) and finally they diagnosed PCOS (poly cystic ovarian syndrome) based on no periods, hair problem and acne. According to them I also have anxiety disorder, labyrinthitis, rhinitis, and RSI.

I think that mercury has been a problem for me my whole life.

Hi, sometimes mercury detox can cause hair to fall out. I've heard of it before. Although mercury can cause it directly from messing up certain hormones etc, detoxing can also because the body will try and rid itself of the bad unhealthy hair in order to eventually rebuild healthier hair again.

But I know we can't be sure what's doing what. It's just another possible answer to what might be happening.
