I know Cutler says this isnt so but i have a feeling and will soon know (blood tests inside the actual cell ) if chelators deplete minerals (have feeling mg especially). I have literally chelated myself into the depths of insanity. So has anyone done before/after hair tests or any test and noticed a significant decline in any particular minerals? I just spoke with one extremely renown doctor about this and he mentioned "ALA is an aggressive mineral chelator" so..

chelators themselves(ALA, DMSA) will not deplete the minerals, but the mercury that it moves around will. Mercury will deplete Magnesium, Zinc, and probably a few others, which is why Andy includes them in the list of basic supplements that one needs to take when chelating. Mercury really screws up our body's mineral transport system so this is why a lot of minerals are necessary when you are mercury poisoned.
Have you been taking the basic supplements while chelating (C, B vitamins, Mag, Zinc, etc?) What dosages have you been doing? You are taking it every 3 hours around the clock for at least 3 days at a time correct?

What I found during chelation was the feeling of being totally drained after a time of being on it. Achey and often exhausted. To the point where I Often had to stop chelation earlier than I wanted. But now I understand that the dose and length of time on chelation can be adjusted, which I could have done then and didn't. I took 50 mg of DMSA every 4 hours around the clock and tried to do this for an entire week. Which maybe fine for some, but was obviously too much for too long for me. So in hindsight, I could have made life a bit easier!
So adjustments to dose and length of time "can" be made, as long as it still follows the protocol. This can make a difference.
But when you consider that it's quite a strain for the whole body to go through, it's not too suprising that mineral levels can take a pounding too, as are antioxidants. Not only does mercury deplete and mess them up, but the action of chelation is also a strain and would use more up because of the process of trying to get this poison out.
But at least Cutler's kept me quite sane. Using other methods, or mobilising agents for me was dangerous because of what it did to me and mostly moved them around, rather than out. Someone with better elimination, may not have had such extreme reactions, but I did.
It's too easy sometimes to feel crazy when you're trying to detox mercury. That is why, if one is going to use this protocol, they follow the instructions properly to avoid or reduce the adverse reactions that Andy warns about.
