Hi Everyone, I'm new here, I've been reading for the past couple of weeks but just joined. I had two mercury amalgams since I was a child and had them removed last week by a holistic dentist who took all precautions. I've have had thyroid problems for 12 years and developed adrenal insufficiency in the past couple of years (with no rhyme or reason why). I decided to get my fillings replaced to see if it would improve my health. I plan to start the Cutler Protocol as soon as the DMSA I ordered arrives.
So far I have not had any major problems from the removal, I did have some muscle aches, particularly in my legs but that seems to be subsiding. A couple of great things about the removal is that once he had that last one drilled out, mentally I was so glad to get that crap out of my mouth. The other great thing is that the day after removal I woke up the next morning with NO metallic taste in my mouth! I can't remember the last time that happened. That alone makes my mouth feel cleaner somehow. I figure if I was tasting the metal then it was obviously getting into my system, and removing that daily source of mercury can only be a good thing.

Welcome to the forum. Great to hear about your amalgam removal.
Isn't it great to have that horrible taste gone?
Mercury interferes with thyroid. It blocks the production of T-3 thyroid hormone and leads to depression, fatigue, muscle aches, and all of the other things that result from low thyroid function.
Adrenals go hand-in-hand with the thyroid.
All the best with your recovery and please tell us more about your experience when you get time.
Thanks!

Thanks Russ, it is great to have that awful taste gone. That is the one thing I can definitively attribute to the mercury filling. The rest is a shot in the dark, but even if that wasn't the root cause, it certainly can't be beneficial to any health issues a person already has.
The one thing I noticed late this afternoon was that the sole of my one foot itched like crazy, and so did one spot on my chin. I wonder if it had anything to do with my visit to the steam sauna last night and any mercury that may have been sweated out. It's been a couple of years since I've been in a steam sauna but I never had that experience. (I showered immediately after the sauna.)

It's pretty common to get itchy patches on the skin when detoxing, and many/most people's bodies begin detoxing when their fillings are removed, so this may be a good thing.
Having done the research that I have on this subject, I have learned that mercury is at the root of most types of disease today. It's an astonishing thing to discover.

Hi Russ, thank you for the answer to my post. I am struggling with the notion that even after amalgams are out, there are months/years of not feeling well while detoxing.
Can the detox harm the liver and/or kidneys?
Is there anyone that is now all better that I can talk to?
Sorry to be so skiddish - but I have been so sick for over a year now, that I am gun shy of ingesting new products that make one feel sicker. I admit I am a wimp BUT I do want to get better . Mary

I understand how hard it is. When my amalgams were removed, I got better. I had 4.5 years of bliss until the spraying campaign started (more info here: http://urlbam.com/ha/M003P ) Mercury harms the liver and kidneys, so when you detox, you pass mercury through these organs which is harmful to them. Of course, when you don't detox, you pass mercury through them which harms them, but for a longer period of time. I'm sure there are people here who would be happy to speak with you (me included). Just post a request in the Amalgam forum. Knowing what to do is hard, but just keep studying and talk to people who have been through it. Let me know if I can help.
