A few months ago after much research I learned I have severe mercury poisoning from my fillings. My symptoms got much worse after one of my fillings cracked.
Now I have discovered a lump on my breast.
I went to the Dr. on Friday and needless to say she is sending me for a mammogram and a breast ultrasound.
I started to research breast cancer - just in case it is and I need to prepare myself for it as I am NOT getting chemo or a mastectomy, I will find alternatives through a naturopath or homeopath. Anyway's, I did come across some info that there is a link of mercury toxicity and cancer. Has anyone else come about this information?
This Dr. also turned this visit into a physical and said I should have my cholesterol checked as I am 39 and should start doing this. Well, I then proceeded to ask her if there was a way to test me for mercury poisoning through either blood or urine tests. You should have seen the look on her face! She said she would have to go and look into this as she has not heard of this. So she came back in the room and said they check it through my blood. I told her I believe I have mercury poisoning due to the fillings in my mouth. Well you know these naive orthodox Dr's. know nothing about anything, so I look at her like she is quacked and she at me likewise!
Well, I then go to the lab to have my blood drawn right and I am waiting and waiting and finally I go and ask what is the hold up. This tech is on the phone trying to figure out how to do this mercury draw as they don't know what to do!
It turned out to be that they couldn't do it as they need a special vile to put the blood in and they need to order one. So they are supposed to call me back sometime this week when it comes in.
Now my question is is it just one test to check for mercury or are there special procedures in detecting it in the testing? I want to be able to tell them what to do here so they do this right. Also, is it known that there is a link between mercury and cancer?
Thanks for your advise, Teri

Mercury causes many imbalances. I know that it also effects your hormones and if you get your estrogen levels too high, this will cause breast cancer as estrogen causes cells to proliferate. You need to stay away from things that have an estrogenic effect- beef and chicken that have been injected with hormones, plastics, milk and dairy products.
You might want to get the book by John R. Lee, "What your Dr. May not tell you about breast cancer" to learn more about hormones and cancer.
Good luck

Yes. Mercury is well-known to cause cancer and it raises cholesterol. I believe the primary cause of high cholesterol in the U.S. is mercury toxicity. In the interim, here is an excellent, natural way to lower cholesterol: Cholesterol-Reg Also, yes, there are special ways to detect mercury but current standard hospital tests are useless. Unfortunately, this is a bit complicated and I would highly recommend getting this book which explains it fully and in terms that can be easily understood: Hair Test Interpretation: Finding Hidden Toxicities by Dr. Andrew Cutler Hope this helps.

Thank you for your responses.
The lump turned out to be a nodule and the radiologist doesn't seem to think it is cancerous from what it looks like. I need to go back in six weeks and have another ultrasound to see if it is still there - if so then a needle biopsy will be preformed.
Missy quote: You need to stay away from things that have an estrogenic effect- beef and chicken that have been injected with hormones, plastics, milk and dairy products.
A year ago I switched to eating all organic and natural so I do know now to stay away from all of this. I need to get these fillings out - 8 of them and do some major detoxing. I found a naturopath to do the chelation so it is just a matter of funding all of this. I do fear though the longer these fillings stay in and the worse my symptoms get that it is only a matter of time before I do get diagnosed with cancer or something else. I am just thankful I know what it is causing all of this and that someday I wont have to live like this anymore.
Russ quote: Also, yes, there are special ways to detect mercury but current standard hospital tests are useless.
Then I wont even bother with the blood test then. I was just curious to see how much I was dealing with.
Thanks again, Teri

Good luck Teri and let us know what happens.
I hope you do get all the amalgams out, but be sure it's done correctly so you don't get sicker.
Take care.

hello Teri, this is just to emphasise that even if a dentist is aware of the problems of using toxic metals, they may not be aware of the procedures for removal of your fillings. Find someone who specialises in this work and does not use amalgams. They will test the fillings to decide which to remove first and protect you from the vapour during drilling. Include lots of raw veg in your diet and eat selenium foods like brazil nuts, avoid large fish like tuna and swordfish if possible until your health improves, Good luck, Susan [color:"purple"] [/color]

Teri,
I second what Susan said. Do not get your fillings removed by a dentist who is not specially trained in safe mercury removal. I know a number of people who had their amalgams removed in hast by an untrained dentist and are now very sick.
Keep us posted.

Hi there,
blood tests only show acute mercury poisoning...if you've been poisoned in the last 24hrs...my blood test was very normal...but I have been deathly sick...couldn't even get out of bed...I had a provoked urine test done with a md who works with a naturopath...I guess the mercury loves your tissues, brain and organs..and that's where it sits...so you have to pull it out into your blood stream/urine...and do a urine test then...my levels were severly high....but my blood test was normal..............I do not trust doctors either,...it seems like they really do not care at times...Sandra P

I believe Sandra is right. In my research I've read that mercury only stays in the blood for 15 to 30 minutes. It is quickly absorbed into body tissue. This is why blood tests are often useless. Properly interpreted hair tests and urine challenge tests are your best bet, although challenge tests can redistribute mercury.

Praise God - my 2nd mortgage went through and now I am able to fund my road to recovery!!!
I found a wonderful holistic dentist that sent me a huge packet of info that included everything from amalgam illness and resources to mercury detox - just a wealth of info here. He takes every precaution necessary in the removal process.
They were also able to refer me to a naturopath that specializes in heavy metal detox.
When I go in for my consult I am going to find out what resources he has that I can get my mercury levels tested. I want to know where I am now and then test a year from now and then the following year. I want to find out too if there is a way to test my son. I have 8 fillings and having nursed him for 16 months I am really scared as far as how much was unknowingly passed onto him.
I ordered Hal Huggins book Its All in your Head - it got it today so I am anxious to start reading it.
I know I got a few years yet before things turn around for me, but I look at it this way - at least I have something to look forward to and I am so thankful that I know what it is I am dealing with now. I am also thankful that I know the difference between orthodox Dr's and alternative healing, cause if I didn't I would have a pharmacy full of drugs for everything that ails me and would be on a road to death instead of recovery....

I hate to be anti breast feeding but yes, the mercury goes into the milk. They forget to tell women that breast is best...IF your healthy! I also breastfed my son for 4 months...and for his sake not exclusively. Getting someone to test your baby might be a bit tricky. I had them test my 9 year old with a blood test...as they did not know how to test her either. They wrote it up as "heavy metal test" so the insurance would ok it. Her levels were like 1..which they said is normal. But since blood tests only indicate recent exposure....a 1 indicates to me that she is getting exposed daily! It really shouldn't be there at all.
I would get your son on children's mulitvites if he isn't already. This will help keep his system strong and obviously no more breast milk if he is still nursing Mercury seems to be responsible for many of the behavioral and learning disorders we see in young children. Don't be alarmed yet...he is probably fine.
I will finally be getting a hair analysis myself. It seems to be one of the few ways to test mercury. The challege test can make people sick. Mainly...get the metal out! I figure the main things that matters is removing it, now how much we have. Any amount is bad. As far as cancer...yes, all research I have read says that mercury is carcinogenic! My father who carried 16 amalgams all his adult life suffered a rare form of thyroid cancer. They have no idea how he got it...said it was "enviornmental". They did fail to recognize all the other symptoms he has..which are mercury induced.

Teri,
I nursed all three of my girls for at least 1 year each. The oldest is 18 now and I only found out about mercury poisioning in 2004. I'm sure that being carried by and nursed by a toxic mother gave them mercury (none of them have amalgams, but have "issues" that I recognize as unhealthy), but I can't help what I didn't know then. I want to educate them as much as possible so that they can make wise choices for themselves for the future.
For now, I have them all on magnesium as they do show symptoms of deficiency in that and I just started my youngest (13) on NSP Heavy Metal Detox-she is my most receptive to taking stuff. I think everyone probably needs to detox once in a while.

Well, mercury inhibits the immune-system and weakens the body as a whole. I'm sure that when the system gets so weak cancer could appear. In fact, a close family member of mine died from cancer not too long ago. The cancer affected her in the same place where my symptoms were the worst. Of course I have no proof, but she definitely had a lot of amalgam fillings.

In the course of my research, I'v found studies about mercury being known to cause mutations during cell division. This, by definition, is a cancer-causing substance and was stated as such in the source.
I just spent 10 minutes trying to locate the soure information but have obviously misplaced it. (sorry).

Anything can cause Cancer....and we probably have cancer cells in us right now...but our body sees that they are foreign, and disposes of them....Yes mercury causes this...but so does everything else....Stress, pesticides, pollution, foods we eat, even worrying about it...can cause it...So don't worry about it...it will drive you insane...The mind is a very powerful tool...So only think Positive thoughts...that you will heal from this sickness of mercury, and you will not get Cancer....And then you won't....YOU CAN heal from any illness...The body and mind are interconnected...And the body is Amazing....So just keep positive..and then body will follow....

I read something strange by an acupuncture doctor wherein he advised people whose mothers had mercury fillings to discharge their "issues" by writing their gripes down and then, without ever rereading it, burn it. I kid you not.

I am curious about detox for small children. My son is three and half now, he obviously was exposed to my mercury and some in his breast milk until 4 months of age. I do see he is really intelligent but shows delays in other things like potty training, very shy, etc. At this point would it still help to detox him with vit's and herbs or something? Or has his body gotten rid of that now and the damage is done? Thanks if anyone knows anything on this.
