Hello all,
My boyfriend is dealing with mercury toxicity, and I'm trying to research as much as possible to help him get better. We have been seeing an alternative medicine PA in NYC, and have not had much luck at all.
First we thought it was exposure to toxic mold, because he had lots of respiratory and neurological symptoms. But they had him do a urine challenge test with a high dose of DMSA which came back quite elevated. Then the doc put him on some supplements and Diflucan (anti-fungal) and had him take a large dose of DMSA once a week for two months. We went back after another challenge test to find the level was barely down at all!
The doctor then prescribed Chelex, which he took and started feeling worse, so we stopped that. He was also taking ALA without the DMSA, which we've since cut out as well. I've gotten Andy Cutler's book and am now trying to figure out the best dose and length of rounds to start with. He has no amalgams, just some other type of exposure, possibly fish-related...
It is really a tough and complex issue to deal with...we went through an emergency care center, an infectious disease specialist, and some expensive holistic MD prior to this doctor, and they all basically told him he was crazy and tried to prescribe him anti-anxiety meds and OTC allergy pills! GRRRRR!
Any feedback would be greatly appreciated!! (Sorry about the long post...)
