Firefox Keeps Logging Me Out - The Solution


Some people are discovering that FireFox suddenly keeps logging them out of websites.

Why Does This Happen?

In a recent update, FireFox changed from storing cookies in a text file to a SQLite file. If the "upgrade" fails, a number of strange cookie-related things can happen.

What is the Solution

(1) Delete both cookie files, if they exist.

The files are called "cookies.txt" and "cookies.sqlite"
You will have to shut down FireFox to do this.

They can be found in this location (in Windows):

Code
C:\
Documents and Settings\
Administrator [or your user name]\
Application Data\
Mozilla\
Firefox\
Profiles\
[random Characters].default\


(2) Restart FireFox

Now, try logging into your favorite website.
Make sure you check the "Remember Me" or "Keep me logged in" checkbox.

Then shut FireFox down.
Now revisit the website.

You should be automatically logged in.
