How To Submit A Form When Enter is Pressed but Don't Want a Visible Submit ButtonUsing an Invisible Submit ButtonTested in IE6/7, Opera 9, Firefox 3
<input type="submit" style="width:0px; height: 0px; border: none; padding: 0px; font-size: 0px;">
<input type="submit" style="width: 0px; height: 0px; position: absolute; left: -50px; top: -50px;">
Using Javascript
document.onkeypress = processKey;
function processKey(e)
{
if (null == e) e = window.event ;
if (e.keyCode == 13) {
// Do stuff
}
}
Works in IE and FF because e.which (IE) and event.keyCode (FF) are both handled:
if (document.layers) {
document.captureEvents(event.KEYDOWN);
// Set up an anonymous function
document.onkeydown =
function (e) {
// Get the keycode.
var keyCode = e ? (e.which ? e.which : e.keyCode) : event.keyCode;
// ENTER pressed.
if (keyCode == 13) {
document.form.submit(); // Or do other stuff.
}
}
}
