Andrew Cutler recommends that the ratio of ALA to DMSA used be between 1 to 2 and 2 to 1, so a dosage of 25 mg ALA is recommended to be used with a dosage of from 12.5 to 50 mg of DMSA.
"And people say you can just take ALA on its own while others say Algin but cant buy algin here."
Some people such as myself who tried ALA alone had a very bad reaction to it. I crashed hard and had to stop chelating for several months. With ALA + DMSA, the side effects are much less, and I can handle much higher dosages. If you do try ALA without DMSA, then start with a lower dosage and take longer intervals before raising the dosage.
You could try eating plenty of food with soluable biber such as oatmeal(some might even recommend psyllium or guar gum, however I had bad experiences using these). ALA causes mercury to be released in the bile and through the intestines, where it is excreted in the stool. Normally much of the bile is reabsorbed by the body, however plenty of soluble fiber in the diet will allow less of the bile to be absobed.
