Hi everyone!
I haven't posted for quite a long time, but have lurked around once or twice. I have missed you guys. I am spread so thin, with all the forums I am on, and my myspace page...it is hard to keep up with it all. looney

I finally finished getting my amalgams removed, March 30. It has been a long road, and I'm feeling better than I have in many years. I am taking lots of vitamins and supplements, and maintaining my health pretty well. I have energy, and more clarity. 18 months ago, I thought I was going to die, and was honestly trying to get my affairs in order, and the difference in me is like "night & day", so my husband says.

That said, I still have some problems. I have not done a proper detox. I don't know where to begin. I already feel like I'm "taking something" almost all day and night. lol

As far as DMSA, I am worried about the criminal FDA, keeping us from buying it. I have not ever taken any, and I need to order some, and get started with it, before I can't buy it anymore. My problem is, everything I read, says to do something else first. My understanding is, to do a proper mercury detox, you should do a liver cleanse first. In order to do that, you must do a parasite cleanse first, kidney cleanse first etc etc.

I haven't done a parasite cleanse since last year. I have not ever done a liver cleanse. Do I really need to do all this before the DMSA/ALA? I have so many questions.

I personally don't think it's necessary in most cases.

If you're feeling reasonably well, you're probably ready for detox. If you choose to do DMSA, it clears through the kidneys, so the liver is not too involved in the process.

Nevertheless, a good liver cleanse is always good for the body from time to time. Milk Thistle is the main ingredient for liver cleanings and general liver health.

Thanks, Russ. I take Milk Thistle daily. A couple of days I missed taking it, and I can really tell a difference.

I think I will go ahead and try the DMSA. Does DMSA mobilize or help excrete? Don't I need to be taking something else with it, to perform the function it doesn't do?

I have Cilantro, Chlorella, ALA, Algin, Charcoal, Oregano and a whole cabinet full of other things.
What should I take with it, and what should the dosage be? X's per day, and mg. I am thinking of buying some 100mg DMSA, can I split these capsules and mix them with anything? Has anyone done this?

Anyway, right now I am taking:
2 tsp Apple Cider Vinegar in the morning and evening
(oh this stuff is great. I started about 2 weeks ago, and I remember talking to someone on here before, about my sweat smelling metallic and ammonia. Turns out, I must have a PH imbalance...too much acid, and the ACV, when taken on schedule, lets me have normal sweat. This has been a big issue for me, and I feel this is a big step.)

1 tsp Bentonite Clay
1 Vit C 1000mg
1 Milk Thistle 250mg plus Dandelion, Fennel and Licorice
1 Vit D 1000iu (trying to protect from the flu)
1 Super B Complex (C, Thiamin, Riboflavin, Naicin, vitamin B6, Folic Acid, Vit B12, Biotin, Pantortheric Acid)
1 Selenium 200mg
1 Zinc 30mg
1 Chelated Calcium 500mg/Magnesium Combo 250mg
1 Potassium 550mg

Most days (unless I forget) I take Collidial Silver in distilled water, and Elderberry concentrate drops, 200 mg Chlorella & 10mg Probiotic

Are there any of these I should, or should not be taking, when I take DMSA?

Hi Mommy24,

I would suggest you read through this link very carefully
Informative posts by Andy Cutler

There is some valuable information there and many questions answered (in a nutshell). The book (Amalgam illness, Diagnosis and Treatment) goes into far more depth and has far more information of course, but the link is still very helpful.

I would personally stick with the DMSA without adding anything to it. Andy recommends 50 mg to start (in his book), but quite a few people may find this is too big a dose and may wish to start much lower. 12.5 mg seems to be a safe dose to start, but some do ok on 25 mg. You may find 50 mg is just fine however.

Taking it every 4 hours around the clock is very important, because it reduces the risk of redistribution (wild mobilisation) of mercury. You have probably heard this before, but in case you haven't.

The book mentions doing this for an entire week and then taking a week off as a break and repeating this cycle until blood/tissue levels of mercury are reduced. However, it seems that it's easier for people to do it for less time. E.g. 3 days on, 3 days off. Or variations of this - 4 days on, 6 days off. As long as you do it for 3 days or more and then take the same amount of time or more as a break.

I would be cautious of chlorella/cilantro. Though some may do fine on these products, others can react very badly.

Alpha lipoic acid (ALA) is not wise to use until your blood levels of mercury are first reduce (either naturally over time, or by DMSA). Which is about 3 months or more post amalgam removal or other mercury exposure before levels are reduced enough for ALA to be safer to use.

This product is recommended to be used similar to DMSA. Except even more often. Every 3 hours around the clock is the recommendation for this. Again, reduces redistribution and helps get mercury OUT of the brain. If used too early on or used randomly, it may risk doing the opposite and increase mercury INTO the brain. That you do not want.

I personally trust and recommend Cutler because of the success he's had with so many people. Testimonies have already been put up on this forum on his protocol. Though nothing is going to be perfect and not everybody is going to respond the same way, it's tried, tested and very reliable. I would suggest familiarising yourself with the protocol and information.

Supplement recommendations by Andy Cutler appear to be:

Vitamin C (taken 3-4 times daily for effectiveness)
Vitamin B (taking 3-4 times daily for effectiveness - can split tablets if one wishes).
Vitamin E and zinc (once/twice per day).
milk thistle (3-4 times daily)
Omega 3 oils are also very important. Make sure to get a product/fish oil tested and free from contaminants.
selenium is optional, depending on person's response. Selenomethione appears to be the best tolerated form of selenium.
Magnesium (3-4 times daily for effectiveness).

Aside from that, additions of whatever you feel is helpful to you. These are only a basic guideline and everybody's specific needs do vary. But Andy has found these to be helpful for most people he's worked with.

I hope that helps a bit!

Best wishes Mommy24, I really hope you make even further progress!

Thanks so much for the info, Bex! I do very good with Chlorella, and so far, so good with Cilantro. I will look into this, and see about changing my regimen around a bit. I appreciate your help very much!

You're welcome smile

I'm glad to hear you're doing well with chlorella and cilantro! For me, it was risky. Cutler's worked well. Much safer, less redistribution of metals, and more of them were pushed out, rather than pushed around and forcing my body to try and do something with them and getting very hurt in the process quite often.

Sulfur hurt me quite a bit when very mercury toxic. I was well aware that it moved metals around though, but made me very sick in the process. Again, others do very well on sulfur and find it most helpful. You'll find people really vary with this.

For me a successful detox programme is not about eliminating detox symptoms, (which I think can be unrealistic when moving toxins), but keeping them tolerant or vaguely tolerant, whilst successfully removing mercury in the process. The kind that over time, the improvements inbetween begin to last longer and longer and the bad times because less and less.

I still believe that ALA (alpha lipoic acid) is necessary, even for those who say they feel better. There is often hidden stores of organ/brain mercury that may wind up causing future problems, particularly when something else comes along to knock the immunity down. Such remaining mercury may keep a person more vulnerable too. We don't often realise we can still have significant hidden stores of mercury when we are feeling much better. Very poisoned people who have been that way for such long periods of time, forget what it's like to be REALLY well. One might confuse 50% to 100% for example and exist like that quite well until a future problem comes along.

I don't know about Cutlers being much safer since the others are a food, thats just my take on that there.

You also mention the metals bounced around in your body and redistribution, wouldn't the Algin or Apple Pectin which trap it take it out and stop it from going elsewhere in abundane? Thats what it is supposed to do right? I always think of that and want to try it to see how it works.

I am not saying anyone is wrong and I am right, but I just read up and thats just a theory of mine when it comes to this mercury detox stuff. Cilantro I did well on! I took too much one night and felt weird, but otherwise I did really well on it for a few weeks. I used to tolerate Chlorella great too, do I still? I have no clue maybe I can try it again.

Hi Sean,

Bottom line, I used Cutler's because it worked....

I see your point on the food, because foods are natural. But this is about mercury and the movement of it. Whether it's food or drug induced mobilisation, trust me the effects are much the same and they can be horrific as we know.

I didn't take pectin or algin etc. And to be honest, it just showed me that the other ways of my moving mercury was not effective enough, but also hurting me alot. Yeah I could have taken the emergency absorbers, but I didn't know enough about this kind of stuff then. Plus, they are not chelating agents. I was searching for a protocol with chelating agents that had a strong enough grip on the mercury. And then using the agents in a manner that would ensure the mercury would be moved out, rather than being shunted all over the place.

As far as I'm concerned Sean, the proof of the pudding is in the eating as I've said before. There is more than enough testimonies backing Cutler's by fellow poisoned people who are highly unlikely to lie to other poisoned people. They are the ones I take most note of, because most of us are pretty honest/candid in my experience.

Well how does ALA grab it out of your body and carry it out without anything else? Wouldn't that be like Garlic or Chlorella there? Did he just study ALA and nothing else and say if was safe and nothing else is nearly as safe?

I agree his is studied and worked for many, thats a cold hard fact. Why would not Cilantro work as well though? He says little study is done on it so stear clear, vbut what if it is better for some and just as effective. I guess most don't now because it is not as studied as ALA from him and others.

You get all over the net it's Chlorella, Algin or Cilantro too, so I guess some have gotten better off that right? Zeolite too, which apparently does not released it and takes it out. So many questions, I guess the answer is with you!

I feel bugged out and crazy in the morning off so many things, Kelp. Selenium (Which Cutler says is a GO) and other things, I feel bad and dizzy and anxiety and crazy thoughts! I guess I am still very toxic but from what? Did I not get it out fully on my first few years of Chlorella and Garlic or are their other things now adding to it and making it worse? I feel worse alot of times now doing what I usually did.

I can take something now and feel horrible, from bugs dying off in me or Candida die offs or metals, which is is? Noobody knows I guess there, but I feel seriously bad off several things and I know it's not a GO.

The bottom line is there is no bottom line, there is not sure thing for anyone and you have to try for you and just see what works well and makes the less symptoms and go with it Bex. I have never used ALA nor will soon, but it truly might work and I might need to do it again one day. What if there is still metals hidden though in my mouth? Then I make myself alot worse doing just that correct? Root canals too? I had one or so, what if they still get me? So many questions, damn I HATE THIS.

Because ALA, like DMSA, are not merely "mobilisers" or "absorbers", they are strong chelating agents in and of themselves and grab hold of the mercury more tightly. Taking both together maybe even more effective.

I think he has looked at other things Sean. He also experimented alot on himself before trying it on others. Plus his ongoing observations of the victims of mercury and what has mostly helped them or hurt them.

His view of cilantro, if I recall was that he does not understand enough about how to use it in order to give somebody a proper protocol to follow. He admits however that some people may do ok on it and for others who can't get or don't like ALA, they maybe able to use cilantro. But he's cautious. He's just stating that he does not understand enough how it works in order to create a protocol that might reduce/prevent redistribution. If he does not understand how to use something properly, then he does not have the confidence to openly recommend it and risk people have back lashes and then blaming him for suggesting it.

Either way, I seem to recall that it is another chelator that should be used only when blood levels have first been reduced. Some don't agree, but there you go.

Yes, you get alot of that over the net and elsewhere. Also random and high use of DMSA is another one. And there are those who have been harmed by such promoted/popular methods. Simply because something has been found to move/mobilise mercury, does not mean it's the way to go. Andy has discovered there is a way to move mercury that does NOT have to cause a person so much risk.

There is no need, when you have a protocol that reduces redistribution to tolerate out of control symptoms to start getting better. I was under the impression that no pain? No gain. Well some of that might be true to a point, but intolerable pain to the point of becoming almost psychotic? No. I didn't know this until Cutler.

So just because something is promoted, does not always mean it's the right method, so it's wise to hear people's own experience/testimonies to get a more accurate idea.

And like I said, if people do well on products like chlorella and cilantro? That's great. But I'm just stating to be careful because I've heard enough bad reports too.

Where does Cutler say selenium is a "GO"? I haven't seen him recommend kelp either. Let me know where he said this.

What I have read is Cutler suggests Selenium is optional for those who tolerate it. And he recommends selenomethione as being better tolerated than other types like sodium selenite for example. For those that don't tolerate selenium? Then he suggests not to use it.

You're likely still very mercury toxic Sean. Just a guess. When you are, it's really easy to feel worse from almost anything. Takes years to detox this stuff. And feeling worse is part of the process. It's like some sickening roller coaster ride. Just when you get a good patch, you get sucked back under. That was my experience anyway.

The title of this thread was "need your detox advice". So aren't we free to give our advice on what we've learned and what has helped us? And that is what I am doing! I'm not here to promote falsey or condemn unfairly.

Bottom line (for me) was the Cutler protocol worked. I'm not stating that just because it worked for me, means it'll work for everybody else. NO, I'm recommending it because of it's track record and testimonies. I really cannot be clearer than this! I was asked for advice? I answered to the best of my knowledge.

If it doesn't work for somebody? Ok. But it's a very solid/tried/tested avenue to try and one might be very wise to give it a good trial run before condemning it. Doubts/cynicism may prove unfounded if one actually goes through with it.

You can get a panoramic xray to check for any remaining amalgam if you are concerned Sean. It may not be absolutely PERFECT, but it's pretty darned good.

I know it's very difficult when it's not just amalgam that you're working against. Root canals, cavitations etc etc. All these hidden sources of toxicity/infection. Drives me nuts too! I know these can devastate a person's health also. I'm pretty certain it was Hal Huggins who admitted that such people can be more toxic even than the amalgam poisoned ones.

If you can at some point, you may want to look at having the root canals removed or "redone". Apparently there is now a biocompatible way of doing them, but I'm not certain enough about it. I'd suggest checking these links out:
http://www.integrativedentalmedicine.com/RCTtox.html
http://www.integrativedentalmedicine.com/RCTtoxstudies.html
http://www.integrativedentalmedicine.com/ocalexic.html

I think that as long as you do not have heavy metals like mercury remaining? You should be ok to chelate. As long as you feel it helps. But if the root canals are posing a constant source of toxicity? You may find this more of a challenge than other people. In some cases, hidden infection/toxins can hinder proper response to detox/chelation. That's what I've heard from Cutler and I think Huggins too.

Keeping candida at bay can also make chelation easier (as I'm sure you know). I had major gut issues when I was chelating and had candida at the sametime. WHOA! Not good.
