Hi Mommy24,
I would suggest you read through this link very carefully
Informative posts by Andy Cutler There is some valuable information there and many questions answered (in a nutshell). The book (Amalgam illness, Diagnosis and Treatment) goes into far more depth and has far more information of course, but the link is still very helpful.
I would personally stick with the DMSA without adding anything to it. Andy recommends 50 mg to start (in his book), but quite a few people may find this is too big a dose and may wish to start much lower. 12.5 mg seems to be a safe dose to start, but some do ok on 25 mg. You may find 50 mg is just fine however.
Taking it every 4 hours around the clock is very important, because it reduces the risk of redistribution (wild mobilisation) of mercury. You have probably heard this before, but in case you haven't.
The book mentions doing this for an entire week and then taking a week off as a break and repeating this cycle until blood/tissue levels of mercury are reduced. However, it seems that it's easier for people to do it for less time. E.g. 3 days on, 3 days off. Or variations of this - 4 days on, 6 days off. As long as you do it for 3 days or more and then take the same amount of time or more as a break.
I would be cautious of chlorella/cilantro. Though some may do fine on these products, others can react very badly.
Alpha lipoic acid (ALA) is not wise to use until your blood levels of mercury are first reduce (either naturally over time, or by DMSA). Which is about 3 months or more post amalgam removal or other mercury exposure before levels are reduced enough for ALA to be safer to use.
This product is recommended to be used similar to DMSA. Except even more often. Every 3 hours around the clock is the recommendation for this. Again, reduces redistribution and helps get mercury OUT of the brain. If used too early on or used randomly, it may risk doing the opposite and increase mercury INTO the brain. That you do not want.
I personally trust and recommend Cutler because of the success he's had with so many people. Testimonies have already been put up on this forum on his protocol. Though nothing is going to be perfect and not everybody is going to respond the same way, it's tried, tested and very reliable. I would suggest familiarising yourself with the protocol and information.
Supplement recommendations by Andy Cutler appear to be:
Vitamin C (taken 3-4 times daily for effectiveness)
Vitamin B (taking 3-4 times daily for effectiveness - can split tablets if one wishes).
Vitamin E and zinc (once/twice per day).
milk thistle (3-4 times daily)
Omega 3 oils are also very important. Make sure to get a product/fish oil tested and free from contaminants.
selenium is optional, depending on person's response. Selenomethione appears to be the best tolerated form of selenium.
Magnesium (3-4 times daily for effectiveness).
Aside from that, additions of whatever you feel is helpful to you. These are only a basic guideline and everybody's specific needs do vary. But Andy has found these to be helpful for most people he's worked with.
I hope that helps a bit!
Best wishes Mommy24, I really hope you make even further progress!
