I am very mercury toxic and possibly other metal toxic, due to me finding out I have incompatible dental materials (glass ionomers, which can contain metals), plus composites containing phenol. I cannot seem to get well with mercury chelation, no matter what I do and it's gone on now for nearly two years. I have NO amalgam in my mouth, have been checked by panoramic xray also.
Not long ago, I went on a candida diet. I had pretty severe die off which lasted 3 weeks long, but following this, had significant improvement. Nothing miraculous, but it was everything compared to how I was. Sadly, I was recommended to take an antifungal and that I should be treating the yeast aggressively. following this advice, I got an antifungal (herbs - caprylic acid, etc). The first day I took this, I had an explosive reaction. It did not feel like the usual die off and I had to stop taking it. I tried again and the same thing happened. I persisted, and finally was able to keep taking it, but never felt well from that point on.
I tried to stop taking it, but stopping it then became even worse, so I was forced to continue. Finally a doctor/dentist told me it was not a wise move to take, so I stopped it. The symptoms from that point on flooded me. I developed night sweats (drenching the sheets and bedclothes), eyelid droop, muscle weakness, metallic taste, flushing/chills, blocked/swelling in the nose, depression/anxiety, new food allergies which would bring things on dramatically worse. All this from starting and stopping an antifungal. I have NEVER been ok since and have been devastated by this. Months later, I'm suffering as badly as ever. I am trying to chelate, but not having much luck. I suffer nausea daily, suicidal thoughts, severe depression and bizzare fears, crying/salivating sometimes, and fatigue so bad I'm debilitated.
I really wish people would STOP recommending antifungals, they ruined me and I can't reverse the damage this has done. I have tried to ask why this has occured and just been told "it's just candida". I am afraid if I take an antifungal again, I may be doing further damage. I simply do not know what I am dealing with anymore.
Can anybody tell me what occured? I thought it might be the antifungal splitting open the cell walls of the candida in me and releasing mercury/metals within itself and right back into my system, repoisoning me. I have heard this theory, and wonder if this may have occured? I don't hear other people having such a problem, or long term like I have after using one.
any advice/comments would be appreciated (I am taking DMSA andy cutler style, but even this is hard). [color:"blue"] [/color]

Bex, I am so sorry for what you're going through! I don't really have any suggestions as I have not experienced what you are describing. I just want to encourage you to hang in there. I know the feeling of "ready to give up" because you just don't seem to be finding any answers. But the answers must be there because there can be no problem without an answer --no night without day. They are the inverts of each other. Have you tried "talking to your body"? Ask your body what it is you need to know to help it. I have found this very useful on a number of occasions. After asking this question, I have actually had thoughts come to me that have been answers that I needed. Kind of wonderfully strange, huh? Keep going. Chelan

Bex, I'm sorry to hear what you're going through. I also cannot explain your reaction to anti-fungals. Just not sure why it affects you this way. Have you tried high Vitamin C doses (3 to 8 grams per day) and see how that affects you? Also, I had night sweats for several months before I had my amalgams removed where I would wake up and the sheets would be drenched. Of course, that went away right after my amalgams were removed. Also, have you tried Algin? I consider this the single most important mercury-related supplement.

Hi Russ, I already take vitamin C, at about 6 grams a day (2 gram, 3 times a day). I do not eat sugar, or yeast and most grains (though I eat some sometimes). I eat meat, vegetables, yoghurt, raw nuts etc. Yet I am ill. I have no amalgams or anything (and I don't have traces left either).
I have seriously considered getting the "algin". I just want to know, would it in anyway interfere with a chelator's abililty to grab mercury? If the algin absorbs free floating mercury like a sponge, what happens then? Does the body disgard both the algin and the mercury? and also, can a chelating agent still chelate properly with algin being taken?
I am really interested to hear as much as possible about this product. I am also about to undergo liver testing and have samples sent overseas to USA to "Great Smokies Diagnostic Laborartory". It's specific testing to see if anything is amiss or what pathways might not be functioning as they should.
I hope something turns up, because I don't know what else I can do. Other than get my incompatible dental materials redone, which the dentist won't do because I'm too ill for the job apparently... (not sure how I can get better if these are contributing).
You had night sweats too? Why would I bet getting them when I have no amalgams? I haven't had any in my teeth for 9 years now. I've only had some rexposure to mercury vapor when visiting a dental office. And as I said, my replacement materials (which were redone due to age) I now have bad ones in there.
Thanks for the advice.

These symptoms couldn't be caused by cavitations, could they? From what I have read, cavitations can have some REALLY bad bacteria in them, akin to gangrene and can cause terrible sickness. And I don't know about the antifungals - if they would stir anything up within a cavitation or not. Just a thought.

Yes, I have thought this because I also had wisdom teeth removed before these worse symptoms began too. I had one doctor detect "gangrene" (dead pulp) on testing with his voll machine, yet when I went to a dentist and had xray (panormaic) done and some type of "topas test", he said there was nothing there. So once again, I get the typical contradictions.
I don't know how else to test for this, other that what he did. Something has definitely happened to me though. So you made a good point. I just don't know what I can do about it if there is anything there, because it's not showing up.
Thanks though.

Some drs/dentists don't believe that cavitations are a problem. But cavitations are caused by improper tooth removal. They may not want to be indicted by showing up a cavitation which they, or a fellow disbelieving dentist has caused. Also, is the equipment suitable to show if there is a cavitation. I don't know what a voll machine is, but I was tested by an EAV machine. No one even looked in my mouth, but they tested areas on my hand and foot. That's because they are using energy fields. An area of low energy indicates a problem, and because they know what they are doing, they are able to pinpoint the problem. I thought it was silly, and probably a scam, but then they found no cavitations. I didn't have a CLUE, so they could have told me that they found plenty of cavitations! I was also told that there was a definite mercury problem and the most problematic area was my liver. I had not told them that I have had pain in my liver for over 20 years.
