Hi there, Just wondering if there are any Aussies who have bought a large number of DMSA bottles and have successfully imported them to Australia? I am aware that the maximum number we can import in Australia is a 3 month supply and given that there is no standard dose, just wondering if anyone has been able to import say 10 bottles at a time?
From TGA website:
"A person can import 3 months supply per importation and the total quantity per year cannot exceed 15 months supply at the manufacturer' s recommended maximum dosage."
I've been in contact with VRP but unfortunately have not heard back from them in regards to 'manufacturers recommended maximum dose'. As the bottles are so expensive I don't want to risk confiscation by customs if I go over the 3 month supply limit.

Thanks Heaps Bex, I emailed them and may pursue this avenue. Unfortunately supplements are much more expensive in Australia than the US. It is $68 for 25 x 100mg tablets, Compared to 120 25mg tablets at 26 USD. I have also been able to secure a 30% discount for a large order of 20 bottles from US, but need to now ensure that Australian customs will let it through in one go given the 3 month rule.
HOWEVER, it is GREAT to know that DMSA is available here given the situation in the US at the moment, where it may not be available too much longer. At least there is that option.
I hope you are doing well.
Cheers, C

Thanks Bex, I will work something out. Amalgams come out in one weeks time woo hoo! I already have 4 bottles of DMSA so can get started after the 3-4 days wait after removal.
I'm so excited to take this next step!! I've waited so long for this!
I'm glad your doing OK. Have you made much progress lately? Are you still chelating?

I'm really happy to hear your amalgams are going to come out. Thank goodness you have a stock of DMSA on hand, because the quicker you can get into this? The better. Because there often comes a time later post amalgam removal when stored mercury begins to leak back out. So the quicker you can get on with chelating, the quicker your mercury levels will be reduced and then later - organ mercury when you're able to start using the Alpha lipoic acid.
But step by step!
My health is iffy, but I felt better yesterday. But feel worse again today. It is very hard sometimes to maintain a never cheat lifestyle. And as always, falling off the wagon yields disastrous results. Sometimes I think I might handle it better, but it appears I don't. It takes many weeks to recover, which is evident of a very lowered/challenged immunity. Because if that were not so, I would not crash completely after cheating or take so long to recover again. So I'm still in recovery mode at the moment. Usually it takes about 5-8 weeks.
I haven't continued chelation no. I'm thinking of doing ALA when I recover from the cheat, but I'm dubious because I know that my yeast problem worsen when I do. Which some feel IS a sign of mercury. Perhaps yes. But I haven't noticed any other signs of mercury detox when I use it, or any improvements after I've stopped. Yet that was ALWAYS the case once. So it is confusing.
I have in fact bought a small bottle of ALA. The lowest I could get was 60 mg. But I don't mind, considering my last trials of ALA were in much bigger doses and I still noted no real reaction (aside from my candida problem being worse). In fact, all i felt was my gut being further screwed up by it.
But we'll see.
But anyway, best wishes on your journey in getting this poison out of your system.

Thanks Bex, yes real keen to get into chelation straight away.
I know what you mean about cheating. I am on Bees program and for the first year I don't think I cheated at all and made some amazing progress. However the last 8 months or so I have not been so good. In that time I got a job in the city and as I cant stand eating in the office every day so often eat out for lunch. I've probably cheated once a week for months and I know some people can get away with that but I definately can't. The damage seems to be accumulative even though I eat on the plan 99% of the time! Even the mildest cheat seems to effect my hormones for example, just a packet of crisps which is really just potato, salt and I suppose bad vegetable oil, can make my skin break out for days.
When you cheat do you try and avoid gluten products entirely? I've found they are the absolute worst but I'm suspecting celiac disease there for me. Still I think they can represent an immune challenge for any health compromised person. I've just gone through a 2 week period where I haven't been able to probably digest meat, have lost a few kilos, and have loads of adrenal symptoms and immune reactions (sore throat, glands) and my suspicion is that this is all related to gluten intolerance.
Are there certain situations which lead you to cheating? I find that I never cheat at home, it is always going out to lunch and trying to find the 'safest' food but not always being successful.
Yes I'm a little worried about the effects that chelation will have on yeast as well. I'll just have to wait and see with that part!
It is strange that you don't notice any mercury detox with ALA, have you tried another brand? Do you get any reactions with DMSA to indicate that you are still mercury poisoned?
