I have just been talking with a friend who has an autistic child. I talked about detoxing. She says she would never do that because it is too dangerous. I guess some people have died, most recently a young autistic boy. Some have ended up with damaged kidneys and end up on dialysis. From what I can figure, the harm comes from the drugs, esp. intravenous drugs and trying to detox too vigorously. Does anyone know if this happens a lot, or is it something that mainly happens to people who are not cautious enough or perhaps go the drug route?

Hi..
from what I gathered with these autistic kids-- they were chelating too vigorously with chemical chelators (DMPS , etc)
Even though they worked- maybe they dragged some mercury to other parts of the body and spilled it in other areas, damaging organs.
Maybe they all would benefit if they took Algin along with the chelators and went Slow.
I know many of these kids make alot of progress with the chelation, but that progress could have encouraged the doctor and parent to "up the dose" for even more progress.
It will be interesting to hear others' views on this.

Slow and gentle detox is the only way. Detoxing too fast is definitely dangerous, in my opinion. It's sad to see people harmed from detoxing too aggressively.
