Vegetarians, on average, live seven years longer than meat-eaters and have healthier sex lives for longer. Meat eaters are more prone to have clogged arteries which not only causes heart problems but also affects their sexual functions. I believe human intestines are better suited to plants than to meat.
The human body does need B12, though, which can only be got from animal products. But, I personally think this is why we have hens who lay lots of eggs - it's the most complete protein and nourishing food and the egg is redundant if it is not fertilized. Having the egg from the hen does no harm to her whatsoever as she lays them regardless of whether they are fertilized or not. They are only fertilized if a rooster is around.
I wouldn't have a problem eating eggs, I think we are supposed to. But, what I do have a problem with is the way hens are treated, even free-range ones which can be kept in restricted conditions. The female chicks might be bred as hen-layers, but the male chicks are mostly killed, some, I believe, even grounded up alive. This is what gives me a problem with eating eggs. If I could keep my own hens, like my grandmother did, then I would eat eggs, but that isn't very practical for me, lol.
I'm easing slowly onto the vegan diet, though, as my body is too weak right now for sudden changes, so at the moment I am still eating some dairy.
