When people want to eat meat (I'm not against it, I'm not condemning anybody) but they know how cruel the factory farms are, then they go and get themselves some "organic" meat from free-range animals. And then they think that is the end of the matter.

No, it is not. A bigger issue is: how is the animal killed? Unless you know for a fact that the farmer sneaked up behind the animal and dispatched it in 2 seconds flat, utterly painlessly for the animal, then you should maybe not feel so comfortable.

I may crave meat one day. (Haven't in 20 years, tho.) If I do, I intend to eat it. Further, I'll not kid myself that just because it is "organic", and free-range that it is also cruelty-free. Having lived on a farm and seen how it is done, I can assure you that there is virtually no cruelty-free flesh food, unless the animal is killed as described above. That is just the way it is. God can put into some of us the desire to not hurt animals in any way, shape & form - and then he will cause us to crave meat! I think it is some kind of test.

Animals feel pain & suffering just as we do, and they value their lives as much as we value ours.
