I'm sorry, but there's no way I'm eating animals to get better. It's out of the question.
Until Huggins can determine exactly what it is in animal flesh that he believes is supposedly indispensable to mercury detox, I don't think he has the right to tell people they must change their beliefs. It's not like putting on a new coat, it's asking someone to do something that goes against their conscience. He can advise people to eat meat, but to say they "have" to I think is wrong. This is still a new area of study.
We must remember that his opinion is just that - an opinion - and no more the word of God than any dentist who says amalgam is safe. I respect him immensely, but I suspect he has not had the opportunity of studying enough vegetarians to conclude with any amount of certainty that it's animal flesh and not something else in the diet that is a stumbling block to getting well, then it's just a hypothesis on his part. Maybe some vegetarians are low in protein etc.
I suspect it stems from the idea that animal protein is superior to plant. That is highly debatable. All I need to detox is to mobilise and bind mercury. I don't believe aminal flesh is necessary for that.
And, ultimately, two wrongs don't make a right. I don't think it's right to make animals pay with their life for something that was done to us. It's hard enough for me to eat dairy these days, but I struggle otherwise for protein source, and at least their is comfort in knowing that no animal is directly being killed to produce it.
To put animal flesh into my mouth, is out of the question. I feel sick at the thought. I think animals have as much right to life as us.
