Have you noticed a difference between brands? Do you think R_ALA might work better than RS ALA for chelation, or are they the same? RS ALA is ordinary ALA. What dosage do you use? I am using 50 mg. I noticed that ALA tablets are available up 600 mg. Could you imagine taking 600 mg every 3 hours?

According to Andy, he advises to use the ordinary ALA, not the other one. That is the one he's worked with, the one he understands (the appropriate timing for).
I'm not sure if it's advisable to go up to 600 mg. I think the limit was about 300 mg if I recall.

Who here has tried a few different brands of ALA? Have you noticed any differences between them? The Vitamin Shoppe brand seems to be the cheapest for 50 mg or 100 mg doses. I am wondering if other brands that are more expensive are better. Any thoughts? Would you pay extra for a different brand? If so, which brands would you choose?

Most of the house brands (such as the vitamin shoppe brand) are just relabeled and they get it from the same source as another well known brand. I would just use that brand if I was you.

Sometimes I think that might be true, but then at other times I think certain brands might be higher quality(either purer, or have better quality excipients). Perhaps this may vary, with certain supplements having just a few manufacturers of the product in bulk to be sold to different brands for tableting or encapsulation, while other substances might have many different manufacturers.

Well I have followed the chelation forums for some time and have never heard anyone express a preference for a certain brand of ALA, so I would still just go by whatever is most feasible for you.

Sounds logical. I found the 100 mg ALA is on the Puritan's Pride website with their buy 2 get 3 free offer(so it works out to 300 capsules for $9.98 + $4.95 shipping for those in the US). http://www.puritan.com/Bestvite.com has an even better deal at 480 capsules of 100 mg for $14.99 + shipping. Shipping is free for orders over $15.
