I have been reading a number of web pages about alfalfa. It seems that alfalfa is used extensively in India for weak digestion. It is also used for anemia, although some websites claim that excessive use may cause a breakdown of red blood cells. Other websites are also mentioning some negative things about alfalfa use long term. It is hard to know what to believe, and what is an excessive dosage or considered long term. It seems like many of the most potent and effective herbs also comes with warnings about overuse. It is hard to come to a reasonable conclusion. Also people react differently to things. For example, some get relief from chronic constipation and detoxification from psyllium, while others get dangerously clogged up from it, even if they take it with plenty of water, and drink plenty of water for hours later.

Yeah it is very tricky, Alfala has always been safe and worked for me though, at times even given me energy after I take around 5 pills. I don't know what could possibly be bad about it long term since it is basically a food? We eat foods everyday, why would that be worse? Contamination? We eat that everyday with our foods too. Alfalfa is basically in all the natural supplements that standar process (Food vitamins) as a key ingrediant, look up those food supplements and see Alfalfa listed alot too.
In Sanskrit, tulsi means literally "the incomparable one" and has been revered since ancient times. Tulsi, the holy basil, is said to have grown at the site of Christ’s crucifixion and is associated with St. Basil’s feast.

All I know is that my the goats and horses on my ranch eat loads and loads of it and are pretty healthy. I really don't think the amount in teabags is enough to make a big difference when a horse can eat like 30 lbs of it in a day.

I take 4 capsules of alfalfa daily and have for months. I've also taken it off and on for over a decade. As I always tell people, be careful of anti-herb propaganda. It's everywhere because it eats into pharmaceutical profits. They typically play the game this way: They produce 1 to 3 contrived studies and then reference them over and over again.
