The routine in Cutler's book is - 50 mg of DMSA, every 4 hours (around the clock), one week on and one week off. Repeat this for approximately 3 months before introducing alpha lipoic acid.

Because of so many very poisoned people - it appears that even 50 mg for some is FAR too high. And chelating for an entire week maybe too much also.

So there have been adjustments made to be more flexible to those whose needs maybe different from somebody else less poisoned.

So here are some other possibly easier option. You can chelate for 3 days on and 3 days (or more) off if you wish. Or thereabouts. So long as you chelate for longer than 2 days, and probably no longer than a week. Various combinations are ok. E.g. 6 days on, 7 days off (or more if needed). 5 days on, 11 days off. Various ways of doing this, so long as you stick to the basics. The dose can also be reduced to tolerance. So 12.5 mg is now a common dose for people to begin with. Though there are cases of people going down to 6 mg!

It is vitally important that you stick to the 4 hourly dosage routine and stick to the same dose you started with throughout the round. Adjustments made to the dose during the round is not advised, as this alters the levels of DMSA in the blood and may cause some redistribution. If you find the dose is too high and it's too much, probably better to stop the round and simply let things settle for a few days and try again on a lower dose.

Make sure to wake up at night to take doses also (set an alarm). If you are late with a dose, you may get away with taking it, as long as it's not over an hour late. But even then, it could be risky. If you have been too late, it maybe wiser to stop the chelation round and simply wait for a few days before starting again.

I have taken late doses before and been injured by it. I think I was far too late though (more than an hour, up to 2 hours late). So I learned my lesson. But most people have slipped up at onetime or another. It's human and sometimes you sleep through the alarm, or you forget to set the alarm, or you think you've taken a dose and haven't.

It is also wise to support your body in anyway you can. Chelation will remove mercury, but your body will require support and I believe diet and supplements are vitally important. Reducing yeast maybe essential in some people who are already overrun by yeast toxins and may not cope well with trying to chelate mercury at the sametime. I've been there myself and had to reduce my yeast overgrowth with a good diet before I could tolerate some chelation.

A gut and liver that has less toxins to deal with will be more efficient at eliminating mercury. But a gut and liver overrun with yeast/yeast byproducts/toxins may not. Depending on the person.
