Just wondering what you guys might know about inflamation. I just saw House say that autoimmune issues are rampant inflammation which I knew, but hadn't thought of that way. (I tend to need to learn things over and over). I also believe the blood type diet works wonders with all that - but can anyone explain what else can help with that or cause it?? (Inflamation). Thanks.

Some good choices to fight inflammation are cinnamon, garlic, ginger, licorice root, and chamomile. Coincidentally, these are also antifungal.

MSM, cayenne, echinacea and goldenseal are also good to fight inflammation.

Inflammation, so I've heard, can also be a response in the body attempting to heal a certain area. Sometimes inflammation increases as a person is going through a healing crisis also. But is the inflammation itself the problem? Or is it just the body's response to the REAL problem? Which perhaps might cause us to look much deeper as to why it is occuring.... Here is a response to a few queries on a candida website regarding inflammation: +++It could be inflamed but remember that inflammation is the body's way of bringing more healing blood and immune system substances to the area. Apply heat to your abdomen (wet hot cloths are best) to help alleviate the pain. First the body detoxifies the area, which causes inflammation, redness, soreness, etc. and then it rebuilds. Inflammation > means your immune system is working hard at clearing out toxins from > the area, afterwhich it will rebuild. Inflammation and redness are > simply signs that more healing blood is being brought to the area. > Swelling is to immoblize the area so it can be healed better. Pus is > immune system substances which heal and help clear out toxins, etc. I think the best treatment is to apply a 50/50 mixture of olive oil and oil of oregano. To help the oil work, apply heat afterward too. Be sure to wash your hands well, so you don't accidently get it in your eyes.

Maybe its partly why I feel like I HAVE to take garlic supplements. I should get licorice again, too, and try the other stuff again. I saw the other post, too. I appreciate it.

I'm talking more about rampant inflammation which I have which is related to Autoimmune issues - like things in overdrive. I do have a book on liver cleansing where the author claims you can heal Lupus (autoimmune) by detoxing the liver. You gave me my answer, though. I need to detox - bad. I am so bogged down with pain but even that could be made better with detoxing. I am afraid of how sick you get, though, cause I'm trying to work. But the pain makes THAT hard. I want to go back to school, too, and make more money cause my husband needs to retire from the miitary and my youngest is also about to graduate and I NEED to work. My husband is OCD, etc. My theory is that he has fetal alcohol syndrome and I'm just not so sure he'll be made whole in this life. I love him dearly but he seems to be aging at an accelerated rate right now (is 56 - I'm not even 50 yet) and I see something serious coming. He just isn't healthy. He's also a workaholic (OCD) and I'm left alone a LOT so if I don't have a life.....well....I don't like being alone! Work is good for me on an emotional level. I need to be needed and these kids have a hard time growing up now. It feels like a calling. I couldn't stand getting on here for a long time cause of all the BS that goes on with the preaching and judging but I'm past it and blowing it off at this point. (Ignoring it). I do need this forum, though. It really helps and I very much appreciate it. I am thinking, also, of starting to try a low low level of ALA and DMSA this summer from the UK website that has been posted before here. Does anyone have any recommendations on how low it wouldbe agood idea to start with? Its up to me of course, but I'm thinking maybe 12 mg? ?? Opinions? I've read inflammation can cause cancer and all kinds of stuff. Its just not a state you want to be in constantly so I HAVE to do something. I think the way my body reacts is why I can still function (you've asked before, Bex, how I can even work) but I know its a matter of time before something worse happens. THANK YOU!! You folks that post on this part are great. Happy Valentines Day by the way. I'm going out later but am sure my hubby is going to just be loads of fun with how much he's been working lately. (I don't even want him taking all this on....he just does).

Jeanie, saince you are so toxic now, I suggest that you wait until you are less toxic before trying chelation again. Some things that are helping me now are echinacea and goldenseal(see my thread on that), licorice tea, sprinkling plenty of garlic, turmeric, and cayenne pepper on my food(you could also use cinnamon or ginger where appropriate. I have the cinnamon and ginger oils, so I often take those instead. Just 3 or so drops in some water. Oil of oregano also helps). When I feel most toxic, I drink a cup or two of detox tea. Triple Leaf brand and Yogi brand detox tea are good. One important thing when you are detoxifying your body is to be sure that you use the bathroom often enough. Licorice root tea helps with constipation, and is also a diuretic. make sure to drink enough water, and eat enough high fiber foods. Also take a molybdenum supplement. Molybdenum supplements are available in up to 1 mg. I use the one mg by Thorne. The high dosage iodine and Molybdenum are available on Amazon.com
I have recently started taking high doses of iodine(around 15 mg a day). See my thread on iodine. Iodine helps detox from heavy metals.
Does your husband take supplements? If not, then get him to take at least the basics, half a B50 twice a day, and vitamin c 500mg twice a day. After that, you could try to get him to add magnesium. DHEA is helpful as an antiaging supplement, but perhaps should be limited to just 25 mg a day.

To everyone who is reading here, Jeanie is unable to post here and asked me to pass some information on. She says: I had asked about inflammation and found this site. Really its better for females but its also very consistent with the blood type diet. O's are very prone to inflammation and its at the core of a lot of health issues at least for me. Anyway - I think its very useful! http://www.womentowomen.com/inflammation/causes.aspxIf anyone wants to say anything to her, she may possibly be able to read here; I am not sure. From me: I too am on a long and difficult healing path and you all have my sympathies. Blessings to you, may you find what you seek.

Hello Linda. I haven't seen you posting here in a long time. I enjoyed reading Jeanie's posts here, and hope that she will be posting here again soon.
Linda, are you taking a high dosage of iodine? I just started on around 15 mg a day of iodine. Did you read the thread I started on iodine?

Hi there. Well, I had an initial meeting with a herbologist yesterday and I muscle tested weak for iodine, so she told me to have a little bit but not too much. I've started on kelp tablets and am taking about 250mcg a day. No way to tell yet if it's helping. I've also started with some digestive enzymes.
Another healer I've been working with, strongly recommended that I see a herbologist who uses iridology. I didn't know what that was but I do now. I wasn't aware that this lady also did muscle testing, which I'm in two minds about. I've done muscle testing myself and I feel it's largely prone to error. However, whether they were preconceived notions or not, I agree with the diagnosis of hypothalamus and digestion/malabsorption problems. I do get the impression she's a vegan and I don't like the dietary advice she's given me. Hopefully she'll still work with me if I'm tactfully honest about that.
There's a small team of individuals, so to speak, trying to help me right now. I'm bound to find some success at some point, LOL. I still don't think I'm mercury toxic though, which is why I haven't been posting here.
Jeanie . . . Well, I was trying to say tactfully that she's been banned. She asked me to send you a PM so that I could pass her contact details along.

Beware of kelp. I started taking it a few weeks ago then stopped, due to stories about high levels of arsenic and perhaps other toxic heavy metals in some kelp tablets. I am taking potassium iodide, around 15 mg a day. This website says that high doses of iodine(up to 50 mg a day) helps in heavy metal detox. http://www.iodine4health.com/special/metals/abraham_metals.htm

JK98, my father uses kelp. I make sure I get a brand that certifies it's tested for toxins and is a low allergy formulation - no corn, dairy, egg, gluten, lactose, nuts, shellfish, soy, sugar, wheat, yeast, artificial colouring, flavouring or preservatives. It's a one a day formula, here is what it says: Thompson's One-A-Day Kelp 1400 is a high potency convenient one-a-day source of nutrients, in particular, iodine. An important trace mineral, iodine is necessary for the production of thyroid hormones, which play a vital role in healthy metabolism. Thompson's One-A-Day kelp 1400 is harvested from the oclean waters of the Atlantic Ocean and before being approved for use, is tested to ensure no harmful levels of pesticides, heavy metals, aflatoxic or micro-organism contaminants are present. There will be other brands out there much the same. Just check the label. My Father is in his late seventies and seems to be doing very well on this, as well as other supplements he's taking. He quit using iodised tablesalt and substituted it for natural salt, so I figured he might be wise in taking a supplement containing iodine, as I know what happened to me when I gave up iodised salt and the results were pretty dramatic. And he has had no such deterioration (which I attibute to the kelp). He is doing just fine. However, it may well be that he simply doesn't have the toxicity I do So it's hard to say. Linda, blessings to you also. I sincerely do wish that you, like others (me too) will find better health for our efforts. For some it's a more difficult and frustrating road and not always so straight forward. Wish you all the best in finding a breakthrough.

How are you doing on 15mg of iodine a day JK? I have some lugols solution...one drop is ~6 mg of iodine and I had to dilute it because even 6 mg a day was too much. It seems to stir mercury around pretty easily in me.

I am doing well on it. I just started taking it around a week ago though. That website has some articles recommending 12.5-50 mg a day of iodine. I chose around 15 mg the dose to take. I might cut back on this after a month or two.
