As I am reading more & more about Mercury Poisoning I am finding out what is good to eat and what is not. At the same time, I am trying to find substitutes or replacements of these foods.
I pack my daughter's lunch for school everyday. I usually make her a sandwich - PB, hummus, chicken, or egg. But the problem is what could she drink. She LOVES milk & at times she will bring her own money to school so she can have it. She cannot have juice b/c of low blood sugar. Is there any other replacement? What can I give her to put into her cereal?
On Friday's nights we usually like to have something light for dinner. I used to make tuna on pita's but with all the mercury I stopped doing that. Then I was making grill cheese but dairy is definately bothering me. I just don't know what to have anymore.
Everything has dairy or something else in it - pancakes, waffles, omeletts, grated cheeses, etc.
Thanks for all your suggestions!

Would tomato juice be a problem? How about rice milk or almond milk.? I wouldn't go with soy milk though, because from what I have heard, soy subdues the thyroid making one hypothyroid.

Can you cook / bake with rice milk instead of using regular cow's milk? My family enjoys whole grain muffins, pancakes, & waffles at times.

I'm sure you can cook with rice milk. I cook with soy and almond milk all the time.

Hey Lynn, I'm the one with the recipes, I forgot to log in last time. I have so many I'm not sure what appeals to you. I have one for a cheese sauce that you can use for macaroni and cheese, or for a topping on a potatoe. Would you like that one? I can also recommend several of my favorite cookbooks that you can look up on Amazon.com and read the reviews and/or order them. Am I allowed to do that in this forum? Some other people might be interested in the information too.

I don't actually know why you're not suppose to drink milk. Anyone? You could always try goat's milk if cow's milk is a problem.

There is some interesting information here: http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/notmilk/At a seminar, I heard about a new study that says once milk is pasteurized, the calcium does get utilized properly and actually causes bone spurs and other issues. It was interesting but I don't have a hard copy.

yeah Russ, I heard the same too- I believe I read something to that effect in the nutrition chapter of Hal Huggin's book, "I'ts All in Your Head".
He reccomended magnesium to prevent calcium deposits. Strange enough but milk (probably the pastuerized) actually has "DEAD" calcium. So does Bone Meal Calcium. Hal Huggins reccomended magnesium and "LIve" calcium, selenium, etc.
I believe the "LIve" Calcium is taken from veggies/fruits high in it- and also Coral Calcium-- and probably raw milk too.
With any milk products- one should boil them before using (I just read this in Dr. Hulda Clark's "A Cure for All Cancers") because there are larvea stages of fluke worm found in alot of dairy products-- that the cow passed on in it's milk.
I have fluke worm parasites- and wouldnt be surprised that's how I got it-- as for years I have been a milk and cheese fanatic.
Boiling the milk on the stovetop kills these parasite larvea very easily. Stomach acids dont always kill everything if you have health issues.

Yes, very true.
Calcium can be found abundantly in dark green leafy vegetables. Always buy organic when possible.
