I was told recently that I have receding gums on the right side of my mouth & also starting in another area. The dentist told me that he will watch it. But if it doesn't get better within a certain timeframe he wants to do a procedure - taking skin from the roof my my mouth & transfering it to where the gum is receding.
I have read this is a symptom of mercury poisoning. Will it get better over time or will I have to do something about it?
Thanks!

Hi Lynn,
I've heard a few people say that their gums returned to normal after getting their mercury out.
But I use Co-Q-10 and Selenium....Co-Q-10 is very helpful to the gums.....I still have mercury but I notice a difference after I take it.
I hope this helps, Elaine

I had that type of surgery on my gums ten years ago because they were receding. That was long before I knew that could be a symptom of mercury poisoning.

LynnR, I would recommend the following for your gums. This might seem a little strange, but give it a try. - Make sure you're not ingesting fluoride (tap water, fluoridated toothpaste, etc.).
- Eat little or no sugar, including fruit sugar.
- Ingest little or no caffiene.
- (Most Important) Eat 2-to-4 organic carrots per day. Make sure they're organic and be sure to chew them good.
If you decide to take these suggestions, I'd love to know if it works for you. Many thanks!

Hi Lynn,
I'm a dental hygienist...so I know a lot about gum recession...plus I'm mercury poisoned...It could be caused by the mercury...but also are you using a hard or med. bristle brush?? These can damage your gums a lot...Always use a soft or ultra soft t.brush and always brush down on the top, and brush up on the bottom.....also floss at least 3 times a week....and DO NOT SMOKE...smokers always have gum issues......and if the recession is mostly on one side of your mouth...it means you are being heavy handed...eg. if you are right handed...normally if you brush too hard the left side of your mouth has more recession..................also, the gum procedure will help your mouth..it will make your teeth more stable...and it doesn't hurt much...feels like a pizza burn on the roof of your mouth.....usually gum recession is irreversable...so it will not grow back...that's why dentists do the procedure....it sounds scarier than it is...if you have any questions...just ask me.... I second what Sandra said, and I would add that in my studies of dental health in other cultures, the value of diet is neglected way too much as a causative factor in both cavities and gum recession in the united States. Like information related to the mercury issue, this information is conspicuously absent in dental-related curriculum.

Is the recession in areas where you have amalgams? I have the same condition and was told numerous reasons why by regular dentist. All of which do not seem to be the case for me. Along with the receeding I have burning, tingling, aching, soreness. They just don't feel right! I use herbal mouth wash, vitamin c to help ease it until the amalgams are gone!
